Ask dealership if pulleys are intechangable with your model/year/engine. call junk yard, someone might have dumped a new pulley. try a slide hammer at the junk yard. you need a straight pulley if you want belt to stay on without premature wearing. add some P.B. Blaster to stuck parts to try and help you break them loose. .

i would look on olds forums for pulley/motor compatibility if you get nothing out of dealers...if you have to reuse pulley use heat to bend it back into shape after you get it off. then cool it with water repeat 3 times to strengthen pulley. do not heat up your power steering pump, seals, or bearings. only pulley. good luck with that.

1998 Chevy Express 1500. Leak coming from power steering pump next to pulley

the front seal is leaking. best repair is to replace pump with new one. You will probably need the pump pulley puller. all these are available at autozone. The puller kit is no charge for use, but you will need to put a deposit = to the price of new tool. Return it and deposit is back to you.

How do you remove the pulley from a power steering pump on a 2003 Kia Spectra

You need a power steering pulley puller kit. Autozone has them for "rent", meaning you pay a deposit and get it back when you return it.
You cannot use a conventional puller, as the pulley will bend or break from them. You need a puller that secures the center of the pulley. If you don't have an Autozone close, check with your local Auto parts store - they may even change the pulley free if you buy the pump from them!

Power Steering reservoir leaking and dripping on Serpentine Belt, possible cause of loose belt movement (has come off once already). Wobble of A/C Pulley, resulting in A/C not cooling.

Power steering pump shaft seal is leaking, You can add a table spoon of DOT 3 brake fluid to the steering fluid to condition the seal. The A/C pulley wobble is a compressor clutch bearing problem and requires the correct puller to replace. Replace the clutch as a unit, to avoid messing with the bearing. Replace the belt if the steering fluid leak stops. If the brake fluid trick does not work, replace the steering pump. Parts and labor will be better than 200.00

How to remove my power steering pump

hope this one help http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/maintenance/3322636
This instructable is designed into four main parts. Here's the outline:

1) Gather the materials
-- Instructable step 1 - This includes tools, a new pump, fluids, etc.
2) Remove the leaking pump
-- Instructable step 2 - Drain the Power Steering system
-- Instructable step 3 - Remove accessories from Power Steering system
-- Instructable step 4 - Remove the pulley and bolts
-- Instructable step 5 - Remove power steering pump
3) Install the new pump
-- Instructable step 6 - Place the new power steering pump
-- Instructable step 7 - Press on the power steering pump pulley
-- Instructable step 8 - Align the pulley and attach the belts
-- Instructable step 9 - Flush and fill the power steering system
4) Cleanup
-- Instructable step 10 - Cleanup

You'll need some tools to complete this task. Before you start, gather the necessary equipment -- you will not be able to use the car once you start the replacement! It is always a good idea to have a friend on call, or a second car available.

Equipment list:

  • Power Steering pump (to replace defective pump)
  • Two (2) quarts power steering fluid or appropriate ATF (to flush and fill). More than 2 quarts if flushing the rack is desired.
  • Power Steering Pulley Puller set (to remove and attach the pulley). Some auto parts stores will loan the tool sets.
  • Socket set.
  • Open end wrench set (for use with puller set).
  • Leverage pipe or extension bar (in case the pulley is hardened on the spindle).
  • Drain pan (to drain & flush power steering system).
  • Wheel bearing grease for sliding pulley on the pump hub.
  • 2' wood 1x2 for assistance with aligning the pulleys. Any straight tool will work fine -- a level, metal rod, wood, whatever.

How to remove pully from powersteering pump?

You need a power steering pulley puller. This is about the least expensive one that you will find:

http://www.harborfreight.com/pulley-remover-and-installer-set-40749.html

Be careful not the bend the pulley as they are $100-200 for a replacement! Soak the center shaft with a quality penetrating oil like Kroil or PB Blaster for a day or two before.

Replacing water pump on 2002 buick regal gs 1 bolt is behind pulley for steering pump how do i remove the pully

I haven't worked on the newer buicks but I play with alot of chevrolets and depending on the setup it maybe easier to pull the power steering pump bolts and lay it off to the side than it will be to pull the pulley of and press it back on. If you want to pull the pulley you will need a universal pulley puller available at most part stores, if the pulley has bolts in it you will remove the bolts and the puller will have bolts that will slide into the existing holes allowing you to remove the pulley.

Removing the steering pump pulley

Don't use a standard bearing puller it doesn't work and may damage the pulley. I went to a local parts store "Salvo" and they had a Ford Power Steering Pump Pulley puller. It works. It seems like you have to put as so much force into it that something would break, but no, it just starts to come off, worth all of the 17.00 I put into it.
