Rough idle and generally running terrible!

Just bought a 1999 Dodge Diesel 2500. The injector pump looks to be new. The problem I am having is rough idle and generally running terrible. Also when engine is running it seems to smoke really bad and a smell of diesel fuel is really bad at tail pipe. Looks like nothing else has been changed still seems to have and old transfer pump in place since it is all greasy. I have not checked the fuel filter. Engine starts up everytime. Any advise would be appreciated. Stemmer.

If idling rough sound like air in system.and your injection pump timing is off.

your cummins diesel engine need a tune up .your injectors sound stop up .their spray pattern not right to atomize fuel to burn right.causing rough idling.and smoking your injector timing and valve adjustment .have to be done at a garage you need certain tools to work on diesel engines. what i would do replace transfer pump.and fuel filter first to make sure all air is out of system.that the cheapest way.because a tune up is expensive.BESURE TO WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN WORKING ON DIESEL ENGINE.DIESEL FUEL IN EYE CAUSE DAMAGE TO EYES.

Dodge truck issues with idle

You read the codes so what were they exactly? That is only half of the issue. You can have codes that are showing up because something else failed. There is no code that says "replace injector"

A rough idle could mean a misfire confined to just one or two cylinders or it could be a couple of cylinders that are working but inefficient or it could all be intermittent.

If the car was mine I would begin by removing the injectors and having them checked and if any swarf is found inside it will place a question mark over the high pressure pump.

the best advice i can give you is bring it into a warm garage and let it heat up, then treat your fuel with anti gel solution run it through your injectors by running engine and this should not happen again, seems like your lines are gelled up and you don't have proper pressure.

Sadly, I'm of the same opinion of whoever gave you the last suggestion. Maybe, just maybe, you have a couple of bad plugs, but I'd be looking at the lift pump and possibly injectors/rails.

Dodge cummins won't start, fuel reaching injector pump but no fuel coming out of injector pump.

You said you have fuel flowing from the inlet line of the injection pump? But not at the injector lines?
