Power steering belt replacement for 1998 bmw 740i

Hi, I would appreciate any avice on how to replace a power steering belt for a 1998 bmw 740i...

    hi, thank you hotchevy1965, i have completed the step per your instructions and have removed the belt. I have also loosened the springs to install the belt. the issue i now have is i do not know how to properly put the new belt on. any insight there?

Your power steering pump should have a adjusting pinion nut.you loosen the pinion nut to loosen pump so you can replace belt.or you have a automatic belt tensionener you rotate tensioner clockwise to replace or remove belt.

    look under hood you should have a belt routing information.i am looking in a chilton and haynes manual dont see a drive belt diagram.

Bmw 740i 1998 steering wheel isn't straight
When parts in the front end get worn out your adjustments in the front end change from there original settings giving you steering problems and changing steering wheel position. If you want it straight the correct way to do it is Get the front end checked out. Any worn parts should be replaced then have alignment done. While doing alignment there last step should be to center the steering wheel.

if you just replaced the engine you probably have a air lock in the cooling line . look for a bleeder on the thermastat housing

If your driver's seat and the steering column adjustments are not working, check the switch assembly on the side of the driver's seat. Look at the wiring harness plug. Is it properly and securly plugged in? This is a common problem, the harness plug housing breaks and the plug comes loose.
