I can't get the cap off the oil filer in a 2004 Cadillac CTS.

OPEN HOOD.REMOVE COVER TOP RADIATOR SUPPORT.REMOVE THE SCREWS NUTS AND PULL THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING OUT REMOVE BULB HOLDERS.THEN DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS FROM HEADLIGHT HOUSING.REMOVE THE COVERS FOR ACCESS TO THE BULBS.YOU NEED TO WEAR CLEAN PAIR GLOVES YOU ARE HANDLING HALOGEN LIGHT BULBS OIL FROM YOUR FINGERS WILL CAUSE BULBS TO BLOW.NOW WITH CLEAN GLOVES ON HANDS ROTATE THE BULB HOLDER COUNTERCLOCKWISE. WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GLASS WITH YOUR BARE FINGERS.INSTALL NEW BULB AND HOLDER ASSEMBLY INTO THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING AND ROTATE CLOCKWISE TO LOCK IN PLACE.THEN PLACE THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING AND RADIATOR SUPPORT COVER THATS ALL TO IT.

Hello, Stand in front of the car with the hood open, on the front left side of the engine there is a cap with a large nut (3/4 I think). Loosen it (counterclockwise) inside you will find a paper element. Pull it out, note the top and the bottom, it should come out with the cap. The car (engine) has the element type filter not the canister type.

With filters and attachments to the engine, it is always counter-clockwise, like you are opening a tap or tkaing the lid off a jar........

open trunk, remove the plastic panel around the latch plate, remove the plastic mounting bolts that hold the grey trunk liners in place, there are two 10mm nuts that hold in the light remove nuts pull out light twist the bulb retainer out and replace bulb.

The Location of the oil filter depends on which engine you have in your CTS. the 3.2 engine the oil filter is located on the bottom of the engine to the left of the oil pan. It is not a screw on type filter it is a canister filter. You will have to unscrew the lid to gain access to the oil filter. On the 3.6 Engine the oil filter is also a canister filter but it is located on the top side of the engine. On the drivers side around the center of the engine cover. It will take a 15/16 socket to remove the lid.

after draining oil from engine,,,,,get under car ..locate oil filter and turn counter clockwise....get new filter rub a lil oil on the gasket of new filter and screw on....you can buy oil filter wrench at wal mart

Open hood and stand at driverside fender. Look at oil cap and then 6 inches to rear of cap to see a silver cap with 24mm nut slightly below plastic next to engine. Unscrew cannister cap and lift out.

the oil filter is right next to the engine on the right side (if your looking at it from the front of the car as if you were about to work on the car) its a metal cylinder with the filter inside of it. it has a "nut" on top so you can get it with a wrench or socket. if you need more help look it up on youtube theres a good guide on there thats how i first found it lol

Make sure you have the socket on the nut securely and use a piece of pipe or a big wrench on the end of the ratchet to give you more leverage.
