Change 90 amp alternator to a 150 amp.

I need to change out my alternator on my 2004 Freightliner (Dodge) Sprinter 2500, is there any problem with the wiring to change from a 90 amp. to a 150 amp. alternator.

I see no problem changing over as, the only changes to the alternator are internally the 90 amp uses different output diodes than the 150 no adaptor should be needed

The battery post (B+ on alternator) wire must be up graded to at least 2 Gage's larger.

I want to fit my sprinter with another engine The spares and repairs are too expensive in south africa

You don't say what year it is, so here is a list below of who made them. Why? Becase frequently you can get parts from another dealer, cheaper that may help your problem.
Yes you could change over the power-train to something else. I do not know what would fit but you can find the various engine sizes and combo on the net. In doing so you would destroy any value of the vehicle.

The gear lube in the diff is never changed unless the diff is torn down for maintainence, but to change it you will need to pull the rear cover off, there is no drain plug.

Radiator antifreeze

There is a drain plug on the left hand side on the pipe that goes into the radiator. This is about the lowest physical point so ensures you drain as much as possible. Whilst empty, take out and check / clean the terminals on the water level sensor which is attached to the side of the header tank.
