Traction control night and brake light on 2008 trailblazer

It was snowing last night so I switched the truck to "auto" on the 4 wheel selector. Ran good. This morning I saw both the traction control light AND the Hand brake lights come on and the chimes. They were blinking and then stayed solid. The car appears to run fine. Any idea what it can be?

First, check to see if your ABS and your TCS fuses are good. A lot of times, if both lights come on, it senses a failure in the braking system. Your vehicle will disable the abs if it finds a problem in the braking system, hence the red brake light/hand brake light coming on in the dash. Get a code scanner that also reads the abs module. You could have a bad wheel sensor, which is tied to your TCS and your ABS system. Either that, or you ABS module could be bad.

SOURCE: 1992 VW Polo 1.3L Coupe: warning light mystery

Polo Coupe 1043,1992, Will not start, can be bumped started, sometimes!!, theres a strange clicking noise from under the air box, when the ignition is on and sometimes the oil pressure light comes on when the car gets upto temperature, then I lose all power and then the engine cuts out. I've recently changed the dizzy cap, rotor arm and battery, all the leads are new ish along with the spark plugs. The previous owner has changed the head and done all that, leaving much of the engine loom unlagged and bare. Could this cause a problem on some of the electrical systems?

The computer detected a fault. You SHOULD NOT drive it around with that blinking, or you will regret it. Take it to the dealership immediately and have them pull the code.

Check first the third eye brake light. does it work? okay the problem reside in a ABS sensor make sure it is hook up or if you recently did a brake job it didnt get contaminated. When the ABS signal is interfered with ESP,Traction is disabled. One or some of the wheel speed sensor is disconnected or is being interfered with. This is common for a recent brake job if any occured

How can I get better traction in snow with my 2wd rear wheel drive pioneer it is terrible in snow.

ask diff reconditioners shop or off road shop if a limited slip diff center is available ( welding diff centers is not an option as it makes the car illegal on the road and dangerous to handle on a good road surface )

you need tall gears that do not loose traction because of the torque advantage from low ratios as in the switch on the dash. so don't use it in tow mode

as for tires there are special snow tires available with spikes in the tread , special tread patterns

( ask a tyre shop for what would be best)

extra weight over the rear end would help with traction

I would think that wide tires would tend to "aqua plane" as they rode up over the snow but talk with a tyre shop again on that

there may be a diff locker available from an off road shop

Consider changing the entire rear end to get the diff operation that would best suit you

Most likely a loose sensor on the drivetrain more specifically the traction control system easiest to just have it scanned for codes buy a good repair manual like. Haynes or chilton and replace or repairing indicated part from the trouble code

My 2008 Equinox's traction control light came on the other day, by itself and said it needed to be serviced. In 2 days, it left. Yesterday, during snow, I pressed it on, and the car started to jump a...

The traction control light usually goes on when a wheel speed sensor is not sending valid speed signals to the traction control module, or the module itself is bad.

Modules can cost hundreds of dollars, or the wheel hub assemblies replaced to rectify a basd wheel speed sensor can also cost in the hundreds of dollars, unfortunately.

If it jumps a little in the snow, and the traction control light was off (indicating it was working correctly at the time), I wouldn't worry too much about it, as the traction control may be working properly at that time.

Was the jumping alarming making the car 'buck?'

The wheels may have been getting traction intermittently by hitting gravel or the road that didn't have snow and ice on it. This is normal.

However, if the bucking continues, I would have it checked out at the dealer if feasible.

Hope this helps and good luck on this repair.

MIne will do that only when I'm switching my 4WD to 4low or 4hi, or back to 2hi AND the TB has good traction, ie pavement or rock OR the tires are cranked to one direction. After my wheels are straight, I just turn the engine off, and turn it back on, then the light goes off. Mine won't do that if I'm in mud, snow, or dirt where there's no traction. My guess is that it may be binding when the traction is good, therefore, I shouldn't be in 4WD. Anyway, my 2cents and I don't think you have to worry about it.

My ABS ligth and Trax control light came on this morning then service stabilatrax

Have you been out in weather where there has been a lot of snow and ice? if so it is possible that you have snow build up on one of the wheel sensors causing it to short out or not detect one wheel or more, thus setting off the traction control light because it can't tell if all axles are turning at the same speed.look on the inside of the wheel and axle area and see if you have snow build up on one of the wheels, it could be that simple. Otherwise turn the key to the run position then off position 5 times and see if it clears if it does not clear go to Auto zone and have them pull the trouble codes for you, it costs nothing and it may be just a simple fix. normally it should clear itself if not it will have to be taken to a shop, also check that all tires have air pressure the same. hope this helps and thanks for using fix-ya.

The self locking hubs (or automatic hubs) are actuated by vacuum. The vacuum line is usually on the driver's side of the differential, towards the front of the vehicle on Toys. You might want to check it out and see if it's cracked, broken, or gone.

It sounds like the spring loaded pin that the plunger activates is stuck or broken. If its not to cold tap on the housing and see if it kicks in. If not consult the book for an exploded view. If your manual does not have the view go to the nearest dealers parts department and ask them to print you one.
