P 1705 Check engine light code P 1705

P1705: Short in Transmission Range Switch Circuit.
So you changed the switch but didn't fix the short in the circuit. Check the wiring harness or connector for a short. Follow the harness and look for chaffed insulation or rubbing.

Four digit codes are brand specific.
Code 1705 for a Ford product means the shift lever switch or sensor is out of range. The computer does not know what gear the shifter is in.

code PO1705 transmission range sensor out of self test range.

Code 1705 is brand specific, for Toyota it is for a problem with a clutch sensor inside the transmission.
The sensor would need to be tested by a mechanic or someone with the tools and diagnostic info.

Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

code p 1705 refers to manual lever position sensor out of self test range
it would appear that you are looking at the incorrect sensor
the neutral switch is probably some where else and only works when the selector is in a position to allow it to switch on as in neutral position
