Key wont turn - to turn the car on...

We have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and the key wont turn to turn on the car. We have turned the steering wheel, pulled on it, put wd-40 inside where the key goes and yet nothing has worked....Any ideas? Please help

    If Automatic are you in park or neutral? If stick likely interlock failure. Try moving the sterring wheel back and forth while applying gentle forward turning on motion to the key... Never squirt liquid into the steering column of a vehicle! EVER!

The key needs to be replaced. Sometimes, not all, for some reason the key is not detected and your vehicle will not start. If you have a spare try it, if not you will need to go to dealership.

200 degrees, cooling fan comes on around 222 degrees

Could be, might have it programmed first. If still won't start, check for fuel delivery and spark.

Steering wheel locked and key will not turn 2000 jeep grand cherokee
First thing you need to try is wiggling the steering wheel back and worth while turning the key to try and unlock the steering column. If the key is worn out it may not turn well in the ignition. Another thing is to lubricate the ignition cylinder. If nothing works, it maybe the ignition cylinder tumbler is worn out and needs to be replaced.

this might sound easy but have you turned the wheel enough to take tension off the key mechisium it sometimes puts a lot of preassure on the lock and you cant turn key till you turn steering wheel opposite direction to take preassure off key lock

Key wont turn and believe it may be an issue with my python alarm
OK is the key not being able to turn at all if so move the steering wheel left to right as you turn the key. The start kill might be active and your alarm might be bad. You can unplug the brain which is usually under the dash near the steering column.

Jeep cherokee key wont turn in the ignition, so there for the car will not turn on. This car is new to us but not new can you help. is the key locked or somthing????
Press on brake

Apply lite pressure on the gear selector toward PARK ("P")

Apply lite force rock the steering left and right few times

Listen for a metal spring clicking noise (on time only)

Turn the key.

IF all goes well then pass a vacuum over the shifter console,the column and keyhole.
