Rear axle feels like it sways
SOURCE: Front Left Sway Bar Link
The front stabilizer shaft (sometimes called a sway bar) is mounted to
the top rear of the frame and to the lower control arm. The shaft is
attached to the frame with clamps and rubber insulators and to the
control arms with insulator links.

SOURCE: front sway bar
Should be behind the front wheels and is mounted to the control arms and the body . Most have sway bar links on the control arms, but some are mounted with clamps. If it is broken or the bushings are worn it is easy to fix. Just make sure you tighten the bolts with the car's wieght on the ground or the bushings will squeak going over bumps.
SOURCE: clunking sound from vehicle rear whenever vehicle
COULD BE A RUBBER BUSHING IS GOING OR HAS GONE BAD THEY ARE USALY FOUND ANY WHERE METAL HAS TO BE CONECTED TO METAL LIKE THE SHOCKS TO THE FRAME THEY ARE JUST RUBBER AND IT EASY TO TELL IF THEY ARE BAD AS THEY WILL BE CRACKED OR GONE JACK UP THE AND GET UNDER THEIR TO SEE IF YOU CAN DUPLICATE THIS SOUND WITH YOUR HANDS (NOT WHILE UNDER THE CAR ) BY TRYING TO MOVE THE WHEEL OR JUST GIVE IT A LIL KICK AS THE FORCE OF THE CAR AND IT WEIHGT MIGHT BE WAY MORE THAN YOU CAN DUPLICATE WITH YOURE HANDS SO HOPFULLY WHEN YOU JACK IT UP THE RELEASE OF WEIGHT MIGHT MAKE IT MORE EASY TO HEAR
SOURCE: how important is the sway bar?
It keeps the car from swaying to far around corners, you need it.
Could deff. be the rear struts on this car but could also be that the alignment in the rear is way off causing the wheel that is supporting the most load when hitting a bump or pot hole to pull the car in the desired direction that that whell is angled toward. But if you are leaning towards replacing the rear struts do that first since it also requires a 4 wheel alignment then all the bases are covered. Otherwise if you try the alignment and that isn't it you will have to pay for a second alignment after the struts are replaced.
