Poor gas mileage - 2002 Acura MDX

Sounds like you have a leak in the system after doing the work, or left a pipe off, or an electrical connector is not seated.

run the fault codes and check for problem heated oxygen sensors(HO2S) and blocked cat converters

poor gas mileage with any vehicle is usually due to lack of maintenance.
options to try:
replace fuel filter
replace air filter
spark plugs
timing adjustment?

Check the fuel hose and clamps from the filler to the tank .check hose for cracks . The smell will probably be strongest in the boot.

MR Chriskrajesk have your lock up ck the lockup is in the transmission the lockup can make alot of things look bad but may not be you have a shutter you have poor gas mileage at a certian miles per hour the lockup comes on and becomes adirect drive thats what gives you agood gas mileage and also can make the car do different things when it isn't at least have it ck you might be surprise of the out come let us know what the problem was thk u

When was last healthy tune up? Plugs, wires, ALL fluids & filters? I'd start there, then check tire pressures to make sure they're up.

THAT MODEL CAR YOU COULD GET 18 MILES TO A GALLON OF GAS.BUT IF ENGINE WORN HAVE POOR COMPRESSION. YOU WILL GET POOR GAS MILEAGE.

Big chance of a leak somewhere.

there are lots of things that can affect gas mileage. if the spark plugs and wires are worn out, the air filter being dirty, dirty fuel filter, proper inflation of the tires, O2 sensors that are contaminated and performing poorly. the first thing to do would be that the engine is in good working order, as in no check engine light, no misfire, etc. a poorly running engine will put out terrible gas mileage. then you can start with the things i listed.
