The fuel gauge on my 1986 ford bronco works saying its full but when it goes past half empty it drops the needle down to empty even tho its just at half, is it a wiring problem or some other kind?

Open wire or the sender is open, ground the sender wire as close to the pump as possible. If the gauge goes to empty then your sender is at fault. If it remains at full then the wire from the sender to the guage is open.
Did you check to make sur you have voltage at the sensor? Before you changed out the sensor did you run a wire from one post to the other post on the connector? doing this will make your gas gauge go to full,unless the gauge is defective
have you check fuel filter it my cluged.
check fuel pressure with gauge and compare result with service manual. if pressure is to low you may need new fuel pump.
A 1996 Bronco fuel pump is in the tank. The tank will have to be dropped. After that, it's quick & easy. The filter is on the rail, not so easy even with the line removal tools. Wear safety glasses in case of any pressure.
