Will start up run for awhile then stall and wont restart

When the engine is cold the car will start up and run for awhile "a mile or so up to ten miles " then stall and wont restart for a half hour to an hour later.The car has 234000 miles on it.

Hello, I would start with a general tune up. Spark plugs and wires, Fuel Filter, Oil Change and Filter Change, Air Filter Change, Some injector cleaner would not hurt eirther. Be sure to lubricate your high mileage car and also use a farily good oil for your motor as well. The run for awhile problem sounds like bad spark plugs. I would change your spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotarty button.

It appears that your crank dwell sensor is gone, Replace that and it should be ok.

Usually an indication of a bad ignition module. Depends on which engine you have, but as the module gets warmed up, it will get an open circuit inside of it. As it cools off and shrinks back down, it will start up an run awhile. Hope this helps

2006 Dodge Charge 3.5 80000 miles, Police cruisr. Stalls when cold. Will run for awhile then stalls again. If it runs long enough to warm up it quits stalling. Any ideas?
well the 1st thing u need to do here is have the electronic engine control system tested for fault codes, this is the very 1st thing we do in the shop for any problem like this, the idle and all other functions are monitored and controlled by a powertrain control computer.

Sounds to be a bad ignition module or one of the coil packs. Will need a scan tool to know what cylinder (s) are misfiring in order to narrow it down.

Have the crankshaft sensor replaced. This is a very common problem on this engine and it's a job best done at a shop because you need a special puller to get the crankshaft pulley off.
