Check engine light

My check engine light is on I have a 2004 concorde with 55,000 miles, when i had it check, according to the code I was told there was a vapor link maybe cause by a bad gas cap. i bought a new cap but after a couple of weeks the light came on again. what else could be the problem -- charlescalhoun View this thread: http://www.carstalk.net/viewtopic-379128.html Send from http://www.carstalk.net/viewtopic-379128.html I had the same exact problem with my 2002 Concorde for 3 years!! I was told by the mechanics that it could be the gas, corrosion on the check engine sensor, the gas tank cap, or it was just a "stored code" that could be reset. In the end the transmission went up and $1,000 later. Now, 1 year after tranny was replaced the light is back on again!

You were told your vehicle has small/large evap leak detected? The leak could be coming from any number of components. Fuel tank seal, evap purge valve, check valve. The best way is to find the leak with a smoke machine. It is designed to find leaks in the evap system. There is a port with a green cap in the engine compartment. This is where the hose from the machine attaches to. Turn machine on. Where ever you see smoke, this is where the leak is.

A side from gas check the release of the gas in the engine it may be is the problem that is affecting the transmission .

Change the filter pad in the charcoal canister. It is part of the evaporative recovery system that catches fuel vapors and sends them back to the fuel tank. You should find it mounted low near the radiator.

Did you have the codes erased after the repair ?
The evap system has several parts that could cause the code.
The system applies pressure to the fuel tank every few minutes and checks for leaks. If any are detected, or if the system will not hold pressure, the light comes on. A common problem is a faulty gas cap but I don't know if that will set a code 441.

Replaced Battery but battery light and Service Engine light are still on after driving 1 mile. Back in the driveway but I'm told it could be a fuse. Which fuses should I look at. The car has only 55,000...

It's not a fuse. You need the lights reset with an OBII scanner. BMW or any specialty shop can do it for you, some parts stores also and most will do it FREE.

Yes they do have a service interval at 75k I'm guessing your check engine light may have just popped on and you can't figure out why??? Have it checked for trouble codes and let me know what you come up with. Check service manual for maintenance requirements if you're a do it yourselfer. Let me know if you have any codes or any other questions

ABS/TCS light keeps coming on.

no that does not seem right i would take it to a autozone and have them trouble shoot the code and then take it to a dealer and have them look at it

Engine Light on - Jerking when i get to about 45 - 60 miles

get your trouble codes checked with a obd2 code reader. most auto parts stores will do this for free it is the only way to know for sure what is causing the problem most mechanics will charge for this service. it could be anything from a fuel filter to an ignition module it sounds like a misfire but without the codes it's hard to tell. hope this helps

2000 Accord LX, 4 Cyl. check engine light and error codes P1457, P1739

A very common late 90's code, P1457 is a failure in one of the evap system solenoid valves. There are 2 culprits, the Vent Control Valve & the 2 Way Bypass Valve. So, start working with those and see if you can get the 1457 code off of it.

I also looked around about the 1739 code as well which a transaxle error. However, I've found that there has been more than enough reported cases of problems of the such. Take a look at this link, and do a little reading.
