Check fuses first, but could be needs new CPU

To be able to help you, we need to know what the error codes your system is putting out. DON'T disconnect the battery until codes are read. You can take it to most chain store auto parts houses and they will read the codes for you - MAKE SURE YOU WRITE DOWN EACH ONE IN THE ORDER THAT THEY COME OUT! Or you can take it to a shop that has a diagnostic computer and for about 100 bucks they can pin point your problem and give you an estimate for repairs.

I would strongly suggest that you hunt for a used cluster at a local auto parts yard. I know there are issues with keeping the odometer reading accurate, but that can be taken care off. If your speedometer and odometer are working correctly, that could be moved to the new cluster to preserve the acccuracy. I don't think a used cluster should be more than $150 or so, and having it replaced isn't that difficult.
If you are even remotely handy, it could be done with a little guidance. A one year subscription to www.alldatadiy.com for approx $20 will get you all of the how to knowledge you would need!

needs a vehicle speed sensor, its on the trans. if the engine was just put in( within like 2 or 3 days, not weeks) then it may have been busted in the engine swap. hope this helps and good luck

pop off the cover put it back to zero. that worked for my 2003 ford focus.

in the Fuse Box there are Fuses for this. They are labeled as "Guages" "Illumination"and Speed on some Models. Get a Flashlight and look Really close at the Fuses. There should be at least one that is Blown.
