The main suspect is the transmission control module. however an oil and filter change and band and clutch pack adjustment probably help as well

What turns the speed sensor in tranny 2004 isuzu.rodeo 3.5 Can it be repaired without replacing the transmision?

it is driven by a drive gear on the output shaft of the transmission. you could have a bad driven gear that is the gear that is driven to create the electrical pulses to show a speed. the drive gear on some transmissions are part of the output shaft and some gears are replaceable without replacing the output shaft. in either case a part can be replaced without replacing the complete transmission.

Automatic transmission not shifting gears

Check the level and condition of the transmission fluid and if necessary the transmission fluid. Check the condition of the gears within the transmission (cracked, damaged) and change the gear cluster if necessary.

The gears on my car are not changing, could it be the transmision or the airflow meter?

automatic.?
first learn now to tell, if the engine lacks power ,or the tranny is slipping
that is easy.
1: increase speed, does RPM(tachometer) rise faster (independant) of road speed. (that is called, trans slip.)
2: the trans dont slip. so the engine rpms stay low (gears work) and
the engine has no power.
if the engine has no power, fix engine.

The trans is very complex. if it messes up post that and what it does
under all driving and gear selecton modes, and hills and flat ground.
why pick the air flow meter, MAF , the most expensive part of EFI sensors. why guess there is a very simple test for the MAF, just ask.
its all in the FSM or here.

Is my transmision going out

If it only does this in third gear and no others then your tranny is faulty in that gear. Expensive fix.. I would make sure that your fluid is full and clean before I change the tranny.

Automatic Transmission problem

Sounds more like a speed sensor located at the transmission. Have your car scanned for a Trouble code. They do it for free at most car parts stores (ie. AutoZone, Kragen's Checker..)
