No check engine, stalls cold start, dies after warm

'04 Santa Fe. On cold start, car stalls out about 5-10 seconds later. It won't idle on it's own. This is a new problem. Previously/currently, once the engine gets warm (being driven about 20-25 minutes, the engine will die and i'll be drifting to breakdown lane. Won't restart for quite some time. This car has been in the shop since Feb fixing odds and ends of problems, but still can't quite get it FIXED. Not sure what else could be wrong.

If you haven't done it already you might have them run it for codes to see if it is showing any. Autozone does it for free too.

Testimonial: "I've already done that. All that came up were codes for sensors, which is among the list of things I've already fixed."

SOURCE: Cold Start Idle Issue

Problem might be the air control valve, it's located at the right side rear of intake manifold and has a hose going to the air intake duct from the air cleaner, as a test you might try pinching off that hose when the idle is a problem.

Why does my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe stalls in cold weather randomly

Vehicle batteries tend to die during cold weather months since more amperage(power) is required to turn over the engine.

My 2004 Santa Fe had he check engine light come on several times in the past week. It started to run rough, like it was going to stall, then the check engine light came on. I took it to a mechanic. ...

Probably not a glitch but an possible issue with the crankshaft position sensor intermittently losing its signal to fire the coils. The crank sensor should be ohmed out when the vehicle is warmed up and when it is cold just to verify that it stays with in operating specifications. If it does not then it will need replaced.

I have a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe and it keeps dieing on me. The starter, battery and alternator are all fine, what is the problem?

You didn't tell us under which conditions it is dying while at a steady speed, at an idle, when cold or warm, etc. Knowing those would help narrow the cause.
At a guess, I would be looking at the coil pack, idle air control or a failing fuel pump.

2002 Santa Fe 2.7 V6 (California Car) 260,000 + miles. Engine idle will increase to about 1500 RPM and drop back to normal without notice, at times difficult to start (must hold throttle about half open)...

I faulty Idle Air Control valve (IAC) can cause these specific symptoms. You could try diconnecting the IAC valve (usually near the throttle body) and regulating the idle yourself. If the fluctuations go away and you are able to hold a constant idle position with the gas pedal (if vehicle will start), the IAC is the problem.

When car is idling it misses a beat

sounds like it could be iac motor (idle air control) or maybe Mass air sensor . No check engine?? Also check and clean EGR ... at least thats a place to start.... You can also remove and clean IAC motor with carb cleaner.
