SOURCE: Oil Pan Gasket

the oil pump is in the oil pan attached to the block. there for you have to raise the engine so you can see the oil pump and get the gasket under it to get it to slide into place. my suggestion is to raise the engine and replace the gasket

SOURCE: change oil pan gasket

This Is A Fairly SIMPLE Procedure The IMPORTANT Thing is To Use Generous Amount of Sealant and Allow Plenty of TIME for Sealant to CURE After Pan is On and Tightened Over Night At Liest

REMOVAL

  1. Disconnect negative cable from battery and remove engine oil dipstick.
  2. Raise vehicle on hoist and drain engine oil.
  3. Remove bending brace to transaxle attaching bolt.
  4. Remove bolts attaching dust cover to transaxle housing. Lower dust cover to gain access to oil pan bolts.
  5. Remove oil pan screws and remove oil pan.
INSTALLATION
  1. Clean surfaces and apply a 1/8 inch bead of Mopar(R) Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant or equivalent, at the parting line of the chain case cover and the rear seal retainer.
    1. Use a new pan gasket.
    2. Install pan and tighten screws to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.).
    3. Install dust shield and bending brace to transaxle housing.
    4. Lower vehicle and install oil dipstick.
    5. Connect negative cable to battery.
    6. Fill crankcase with oil to proper level.

SOURCE: oil pan gasket

if you like spending a lot of time under the car.  Also determine if you can easily slip the pan off or if you have to remove suspension components.  I'd have a shop do it.

Do you need to torque oil pan bolts?
Engine oil pan bolts range in torque from seven foot-pounds to 22 ft-lb or more for large engines with heavier pans and bolts. Once you've torqued the bolts and filled the engine with oil, you should run the engine for five minutes to bring it up to normal operating temperature.

Replace oil pan in 1990 chevy c1500 5.7L

You'll need to remove the bolts on the motor mounts and jack up the front of the engine to get enough clearance to get the pan clear once all the pan bolts are removed.

The pan? Or the Gasket? It is a lot of work to remove the pan, but you can replace the gasket without removing the pan.

Can't find oil filter..

In order to find the oil filter turn your wheels all the way to the right. Then look by the passanger side front wheel it is right there. It is kind of hard to explain where exactly it is but when you got your wheels turned and just look a little you will find it.

I have a 1995 chevy corsica. it doesn't want to go and i have the gas peddle all the way to the floor and it has a smell. there is a cloud of smoke coming out of the exoust and also there is a little bit...

Head gasket. Having water in the oil IS NOT GOOD! The cloud of smoke you are seeing is the water vapor. Do not run the engine anymore. You can do a lot of damage. You need to get the head gasket replaced and flush out your cooling system because you probably have oil in your radiator too. You'll probably need a new thermostat too. Hope this helps. I'm a Chevy mechanic.

Oil pan gasket leak

If everything has been installed correctly and torqued right you might want to check for crackes in the block or pan.
