2007 s550 - had the car repaired after vandalism. When I got it back the drivers's door lock button remains up about 1/2 inch even when locked. All other buttons are flush when locked. I then tried the emergency lock procedure described in the manual (leave both left side doors open, press central locking, close driver's door, and from rear, press button down (didn't help) and then I closed the rear door - the button remains up too. How do I get the buttons to stay down? I figure there has to be a trick, but body shop does not know. Thanks

I took the car back to the body shop that did the repair. They had to open the door panels and they were able to make the adjustment to the button height from the inside. I wasn't there to take pictures, but they said it was simple and obvious once they had the door panels removed.

sounds like you have a wiring problem in the main lock switch in the driver side door or wires that run from there to the other doors. one of the wires in this system does not have a good enough connection to allow enough current to operate the locks. put another way, the wire itself is introducing unwanted resistance which reduces the current flow. the resistance could be a result of a poor connection at a junction or a section of wire which has corrosion or some other problem which diminishes flow. to find exactly where the problem lies will involve removing door inner panels and making voltage drop tests across connections. works something like this: i started out with 12v dc, i know this component should use 3.4 v (or whatever it is) but now i only have 4 v coming to this next component. so the wire is using some of the voltage. some drop in the wire is normal, but not very much. that is how i would troubleshoot it. you can just check the connections to power and ground, just look at things and make sure you don't see corrosion, wiggle connections and see if it makes something different happen, but you will still have to take the doors apart to do it. hope that helps

you have to replace door lock completely , there is small plastic gear on electric motor which moves locking mechanism and seems that gear is broken, but it is not available as separate part.

Clean both the negative and postive of the battery. Next go under the hood far right and replace Fuse 27 which is 15 type fuse green in color. Doors not opening even if they are unlocked

My 2009 Sebring does the same thing occasionally but only the drivers door gets stuck (dead locked - even though the locks appear to pop up).
The solution I have found once this happens is:
1) The car needs to be driven (crawl in thru the passenger door) -even just a short distance
2) Engine shut off & doors locked with remote (after you've exited from the passenger door of course)
3) Leave turned off for 10 minutes
4) Doors will now open when unlocked with the remote

When i use the key fob to lock the doors the back glass dont lock, ???????

This solution applies to models:
2002-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, Trailblazer EXT and Trailblazer SS
2004-2007 Buick Rainier
2002-2007 GMC Envoy, Envoy XL, and Envoy Denali
2002-2004 Oldsmobile Bravada
2005-2007 Saab 9-7x

Condition/Concern:
Rear liftgate glass will not lock when using the key fob or door switch unless the lock button is pressed a second time. All other doors will lock normally. This could be the result of the liftgate glass lock rod not adjusted correctly. This lock rod travels from the liftgate lock actuator to the glass release push-button cylinder.

Recommendation/Instructions:
Remove the inside rear liftgate trim panel. Disconnect the threaded lock rod clip at the end of the push-button glass release and rotate this clip 1 complete turn at a time making the lock rod longer. This will be the only threaded lock rod visible when the trim panel is removed and the liftgate is raised.
Note: For the rear glass to release, the rear liftgate latch must be in the closed position. For test purposes only, this latch can be made closed to make this lock rod adjustment.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

1998 Taurus SE warning chime beeps as you get in the driver door

Hi John,

Had a similar problem with my Saturn. Door chime going all the time, the seat belts going up - down - up for no apparent reason.

Turned out to be the switch in the door jamb had become unseated. As it randomly made and broke contact, the cars computer thought the doors were opening and closing, then acted accordingly.

I remounted it with the help of a hot glue gun (plastic mount).

Hope this info helps with your problem.

Best regards
Mike
