2000 Mitsubishi Galant is running hot (but not quite overheating) and the heater is not working

My car is not overheating, but the temp guage is at about 75%. I changed the thermostat and that didn't fix the problem. the fan is working. It's not leaking antifreeze. Also, the heater is not blowing hot or even warm air. I tried cleaning out the heater core with a can of compressed air, and that didn't fix it.

SOURCE: mitsubishi galant 2000 heater core replacement

If the air coming from your heater smells like antifreeze or your passenger side floor is wet with antifreeze, then your heater core is shot.
Till then it's fine as it could be a $700-1000 job.

Replaced a/c compressor serviced with oil and 134a still blows hot air. 2001 galant 2.4 cyl

do you have a guage to check the low side pressure? if the low side pressure is less than 20 psi then you could have a bad expansion valve that is not letting the freon circulate. also check the controls to see if the heater works all the time. the air temp door may not be moving to the cold position.

1996 ford contour gets hot , no hot heater or temp guage movement

Is your temperature gauge working now? That is of more concern then your heater as you wouldnt know if your engine was overheating until its too late. Your heater core could be clogged, they get clogged quite easily. You can flush them or replace. The part is inexpensive but on some models you have to take out dash to replace them, but on other models it only takes about 30 mins and a few bolts.
