I have a 2002 pontiac Aztek. In cold weather it wont crank unless I put it on a battery charger. I bought a new battery and the same thing happened.Put the old battery in after cleaning the neg.cable(was terribly corroded) then it started right up. Yhe next day 15* ouside,it wouldn't turn over again!! Put the charger on it and it said I had over 11 volts of power. Charged it again, and it started right up?? What could be the problem?

Has your alternator belt broken or alternator not charging the batteries? Check amps output from the alternator aswell it maybe undercharging them. Make sure all battery connections and earths are clean and their mounting points are clean. Is it the correct battery for the car?

SOURCE: 1999 Pontiac Sunfire wont turn over

ok i had kinda the same problem. if your father or bf is decent with mechanics ask him to check any see if there is any spark if not tell him to check the cranksensor to c if there is an current going to it, also when u go to start the car is there a (theft system light that comes on in the dash and flashes if so, turn the key fully as if you were going to start the car but dont crank it and leave it be for about 15-20mins or until the light stops flashing. then turn the key off and try start again. the thing is that when u install a stereo into one of these cars theres a anti theft system that stops fuel from going to the injectors. thats why when u install a aftermarket stereo u are supose to get eh harness so that it doesnt engage the ats(anti theft system). and if there is no current going to the crank sensor cut the wire long enough to hood an extra wire to it and then hook it up to ignition fuse in the fuse box(inside the car) this will send a a current to the crank sensor so when u turn the key on it will start. this is only a temperary fix. just gives u enough time to pick up the money to bring the car to the garage and get it checked correctly. anything else just ask. SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Grand prix wont start; unable to remove key

On many cars, if the battery is dead, it locks the key in the ignition. Put a battery charger on the car or replace the battery and give it a shot.

Good luck.

SOURCE: I have a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville SSE.. won't start

It sounds like you have a short somewhere that is draining the battery...this type of thing is usually caused by a faulty voltage regulator. I recommend taking the alternator to an autoparts store to have it tested...don't be surprised if the alternator tests good; a faulty voltage regulator can and will drain a battery in a matter of hours. I am including a link where you can order a voltage regulator for your Bonneville or, while you are at the autoparts store, you can buy one there. The link will help you to see what the voltage regulator looks like so you can identify it in your engine compartment. Hope this helps, good luck!

Replaced head gaskets on 2002 aztek i started it with charger on disconnected charger it died . now wont start got fuel at rail got spark security light never comes on

Sounds like the battery is dead and the alternator is not putting out power. The truck runs off the alternator after it starts. The battery is just there to start the truck. Try to jump start the truck again and once it is running take the positive cable off the battery and if it stops running you have a problem with the alternator.

2002 wont turn over changed fuel filter not working fuel pump ?

The pump is located in the fuel tank. But i would not recommend changing it yourself unless you know how. But if the engine wont turn over sounds like you have other trouble. Like battery,starter.....

It was about -30 outside and i tried to start my jetta, it turned over a couple of times but now it wont do anything. everything else works but the starter wont turn the engine over

These engines require a LOT of amperage from the battery. A battery's amperage output is severely decreased in the cold weather. If your battery is old, it may not have the power to turn the engine over. Your solutions are (1) warm the engine to allow for easier turn-over and (2) put a charger on the battery to keep it warm in cold weather. The first can be accomplished by having your dealer install a soft-plug block heater. As to charging the battery, be sure the charger is one that monitors the battery's charge and turns itself off when the battery is fully charged.
If this does not help, then your cold cranking may have caused your starter to begin to fail. Good Luck and stay warm!
