Yes linkage. Probably plastic retainer for linkage has got brittle and snapped. Looks like one of these pics.
Remove the door window weather strip , along top edge where door meets window, you should then be able to reach the lock mechanism with a straightened wire coat hanger with a hook bent on the end and release the door lock, then have to strip out door to see why won't open, probaly linkage has come loose
Try to open the door from outside, and open out the interior door cover and check the latch, it’s probably already broken or loose.

There is a cable that attaches to the inside door latch release handle. The plastic that retains this cable is most likely broken. I have seen this before. If the retainer is not holding the cable sheath correctly, the entire cable moves when the handle is pulled and does not release the door latch.
Remove the door panel and inspect this cable. You will see 2 cables (one is for the door lock). If the plastic is broken, you will need a new interior handle assembly.
Hope this is helpful!!

You may need to diconnect the power lock button on the driverside door by prying it out (with the window controls). Problem may be in the switch or a short in the wiring. If this is not it, it may be in the door switch on either the drivers or passengers door.

the handle section of the door is snap-tite. remove it to find the fastening bolt(s) then unclip the rest of the door.

You have a problem with the linkage that goes from the inside handle to the door mechanism. You need to take off the door lining and make an inspection. It could be a broken clip, spring, retainer or a little over centre mechanism that has seized up. Should be an easy fix once you can see whats happening with the door liner off.
