SOURCE: Can't open tailgate....The handle had

I have the same problem, I pull on the cable, the metal piece moves on the lock acuator but tailgate does not open. Seems like the ACUATOR is stuck in LOCK position and pulling on the cable does not help. Any way to manually force the ACUATOR to open? I can replace the ACUATOR if I can lift the tailgate up but I can't.

SOURCE: how do i replace a broken hood latch cable 2002 toyota camry

its more fiddly than hard before you start look st the cable where it joins the latch and start following it back toward the lever you may have to lift some floor mats etc and the cable should be secured with clips along the way if you think you can get it out take it with you when you go to buy the new 1 and make sure they are the same. if this helps please rate joe

SOURCE: 99 toyota corrolla hood latch is broken. Can't

There is a rachet right below the hood that you can reach from radiator grill.
Take a long thin screw driver, reach it and turn that rachet.
You will hear the "click" sound and the hood will pop open.

SOURCE: Hood on my 1995 Toyota Tercel won't open

Someone just successfully helped me with a similar problem. IF the cable is Not broken, ie: still taunt when one pulls the hood release lever in the car, then the latch under the hood is simply stuck. Try this. Have someone bounce/press down on the front center of the hood where the latch is located to relieve spring tension. At the same time have someone pull the Hood Release lever inside the car. This may pop open the front hood. Then after the hood opens spray WD40 on the hood latch to rid the rust which likely is the cause of the problem. BTW...don't know what you mean about the Oil Light comes on. You don't need the engine turned on to open up the front hood, at least not on my model (2door sedan).

The inside hood release lever on my 2003 Toyota Echo has broken.

Hello Jenn

In addition to what is in this link, go the hood release catch inside and see is the cable has broken there? If it has you can grab the end of the cable with grips and pull.

The easy was is to have it towed to the dealership or your local mechanic. There are also mobile mechanics that will come to you.

Hood release not working

Do you mean its detached from the cable? If so, see if you can reach the attachment point for the cable and pull in direction of the cable to release. If this is helpful a thumbs up or clicking helpful would be greatly appreciated. Good LUCK.hood-release-not-working-mi3qs3kfzvqijsqzkmg2vt51-3-0.jpg

Hood release cable not attached to release mechanism under the hood. Can the hood be popped (opened) from front?? . Battery went dead and when I tried to open the hood the cable was loose (detached)

This same thing happened to my Blazer. If you reach your hand up behind the front bumper and use a hammer you can hit the release latch and it will open.

Cannont open the Engine Compartment

I had the same problem with a 2000 MR2. I took the easy way out and opened it while the engine was cold and unbolted the latch mechanism, leavint the hood unlocked. It you want to keep the hood lockable, you might add a spacer to the cable between the cable sheath and the latch.
