Toyota rav 1996. New battery fitted, EFI fuse replaced. engine starts & runs ok. RELAY PANEL LOCATION
The relay panel is located at the left corner of the instrument panel.

The fuse and relay box is located in the engine bay area. Please lift up the cover by pressing front and rear locks, and find the ECTS fuse (10 Amp). Location and diagram of the fuse is printed underside the cover. Remove the fuse, check the fusible link. Replace it with the same rating, if it is blown.
After replacing the fuse, remove the EFI fuse in the same relay box or remove the battery terminal for 10 Sec.
Fix the fuse back to its place or reconnect the battery terminal.
Start the car. It should now perform well.
If the problem persists, retrieve the error code and put it here.

a brake light has burnt out

same here on my rav4 1996,i just put in oil stop leak been ok for 8 months :) you will always get hatters of oil stop leaks,but they work ok,though i find don't like them have never used them

Take your Alternator off and bring it to your local auto parts place to test it for free. Tell them it works till you load it down with lights. The last one I took in that I knew was bad checked OK, bought the new one anyways and fixed the problem. (sometimes there's no telling). There is an alternator fuse in the box under the hood, but if that was bad (open) the battery wouldn't have gotten the slightest charge.

you have to check for a burnt fuse , maybe an ignition, fuel pump fuse, hear the pump starting, checkfor pressure at the fuel rail, if ok, check for spark going to the spark plugs if there is not it can be a faulty crank sensor

Headlamp doors are vacuum operated. Chk for a vacuum leak.
