You have to remove the instrument panel first.

Evaporator Core
Removal
NOTE: The evaporator core is serviced as a core and housing assembly. The evaporator core, internal doors, seals and door linkage are included with the housing. Transfer the blower motor and wheel assembly, heater core and cover, dash panel seals and vacuum actuators to the new housing.
Depress the locking ramp and remove the A/C damper door shaft from the air temperature control door shaft.
Remove the A/C evaporator case outlet door shaft (19B752).

Removal
CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result. Remove the passenger side air bag module. For additional information, refer to Section 501-20B .
If equipped, remove the floor console; refer to Console—Floor .
If equipped, remove the mini console; refer to Console—Mini .
If equipped, remove the rear seat climate control air duct sleeve.
Remove the steering column; refer to Section 211-04 .
Release the cable from the parking brake actuator.
Release the cable from the parking brake actuator.
Release the cable conduit from the parking brake actuator.
Disconnect the LH outboard bulkhead electrical connector.
Loosen the bolt.
Disconnect the LH bulkhead electrical connector.
Disconnect the LH inboard bulkhead electrical connector.
Loosen the bolt.
Disconnect the LH bulkhead electrical connector.
If equipped, disconnect the heated seat switch electrical connectors.
Remove the steering column mounting support to instrument cowl brace bolts.
Remove the instrument panel dash brace to instrument panel bolt.
Position the instrument panel dash brace aside.
Loosen the nut.
Position the instrument panel dash brace aside.
Remove the RH instrument panel insulator (046A24).
Remove the pin-type retainers.
Remove the RH instrument panel insulator.
Remove the courtesy lamp.
Disconnect the vacuum harness connector.
Disconnect the in-line electrical harness connector.
Position the RH scuff plate aside.
Remove the RH cowl trim panel.
Disconnect the antenna in-line connector.
Remove the ignition/shifter interlock cable from the bracket and the shifter interlock cam.
Remove the instrument panel defroster opening grille assembly.
Lift upward to release the instrument panel defroster opening grille assembly from the instrument panel.
Disconnect the two electrical connectors (one each side).
Remove the instrument panel defroster opening grille assembly.
Remove the instrument panel cowl top screws.
Remove the RH instrument panel support to cowl side nut.
Remove the LH instrument panel support to cowl side bolts.
Loosen the LH instrument panel support to cowl side captive bolt.
Position the instrument panel away from the cowl.
Disconnect the electronic air temperature control (EATC) hose from the heater plenum.
NOTE: Two technicians are required to carry out this step.
NOTE: Check the cowl top clips for damage, looseness, or stripped fasteners.
Remove the instrument panel (04320).
