Put it in 1st gear, drive it and get up to 50 mph. once you hit 50, take your foot off the gas and let it decelerate at its own pace, no brakes. it should pop out of limp at that point. Also, this needs to be done cold.

SOURCE: CVT 2002 Mini Cooper transmission check and change

The only way to check the trans fluid is to drain the fluid right out of the trans pan. There should be 5 liters. The only way to get the fluid in is by pumping the fluid back in by means of the fill plug on the lower front of the transmission. I believe it is a 4 or a 6mm allen to remove the plug. Whatever you use to pump the fluid back in needs to seal where the fill plug is because fluid will pour right back out. I would change the fluid at least every 50k.

The manual has a mis print, according to MINI the correct oil to use is ESSO CVT Z2L 799 fluid and there are no other manufacturers that use it so sorry but you will have to buy it from the main dealer.

SOURCE: bmw 330 d step/auto gear box oil level ,location

Hello There

There is no dipstick to check the oil with. The only thing you can do is to top up the oil to makixum level. There are two 17mm bolts on the gear box, accessed from under the car, the one at the bottom is for draining the oil, there is one on the side if the gearbox which is the one you need to add gearbox oil.

Hope this helps. Please don't forget to rate me.

Many Thanks

SOURCE: How do I reset computer on 2007 Mini Cooper S

Resetting the MINI Oil Indicator
If you do your own oil changes, this is a helpful tip to keep in mind. Typically, it is best to wait until your dealer maintenance service warranty expires, as an ‘owner’ reset could result in a missed oil change, particularly if the dealer checks the indicator it does not believe an oil change is due.

1. Locate the trip odometer button and depress and hold.
2. Insert the key into the ignition and partially turn into the first position.
3. Pay attention to the trip odometer to display the word ‘RESET’.
4. Release the trip odometer button, then press & hold it again.
5. The ‘RESET’ message will flash.
6. Release the button, and then press & release again (once only)
7. The service interval is now reset to 10,000 miles

Mini Cooper Transmission Relearn Procedure

If the gear selection display on your Mini Cooper has an x before the gear selected,

like xP or xD or xR, then you need to run this procedure.

The usual cause of this is a dead or disconnected battery for a long period of time.

First make sure you have a good battery that will hold a charge or fix the charging

system problem.

Get the car someplace where you will be able to drive for a mile or two without

interruption on a fairly level road.

Follow ALL steps and don't skip anything.

Clutch Adaptation

1. Begin with a cold engine and start the car. Shift to N for 10 seconds, then shift

to D for 10 seconds.
Shift to P. Display says xP.

2. Repeat the following ten times. Shift to N for 3 seconds, then shift to D for 3

seconds.
Shift to P. Display says xP.

3. Repeat the following ten times. Shift to N for 3 seconds, then shift to R for 3

seconds.
Shift to P. Display says xP.

Step-up Ratio Adaptation

1. Accelerate vehicle to a speed greater than 80 km/h. Don't be afraid to go above

the redline on the tach for a few seconds. At this point the car may buck and snort

a little as it tries to get into a higher ratio. As soon as it settles into a higher

gear and the revs are above 4500, rpm let off the accelerator quickly. Don

Quick Question on MINI break-in period bmw

When I picked up my car. the very next day I went on a 800+ mile trip. During the trip, I made a mental note to vary my speeds between 50 and 90 and do frequent gear changes to keep the RPMs moving around... did my best to simulate city driving.

The oil change intervals are based upon your driving conditions. depending on which oil they use, it should be fine. My oil was drained in my car at 11k miles and it turned out to be in good condition.
