Remote not working after disconnecting battery

Power top stopped working, so I tried disconnecting the battery for about 45 minutes to see if a reset would fix the problem; after reconnecting the battery the remote control on the master key will not work (lock/unlock and panic button).

If car Convenience Control Module(module that control key remote) lose power- remote adaptation to the car will be lost. This apply to some Audi models.
What you can try to do is:
1. Disarm alarm manually by opening door lock with the key
2. Put key into ignition and turn to on position (don't start the car)
3. Press few times remote button (with the ignition in on position)
Depends on your year model it my work (works on the newer models), if not you have to go to the dealership to program your keys.
Good luck!

Not sure why, but I tried the above suggestion and had no luck. Just out of being stubborn, ,I tried again by turning the key to position 1 and locking the door (sitting in the car) then pressing the unlock button 3 times on the remote (while in the ignition) removed the key and pressed the unlock button and it actually unlocked the door. I then pressed the lock button to confirm the remote would lock the car. Unlocked and relocked a few times to confirm before declaring victory...

06 jeep liberty keyless entry remote stopped working buttons did work to unlock doors, but did not start car. Now it has completely stopped working all together also horn on steering wheel stopped working ...

One thing to try BEFORE taking it to the dealer.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
then Disconnect the Positive battery cable
Now
touch the negative and positive ends you just removed from the batter together. Hold them together for around 1 minute.
Now reconnect each cable to the battery, positive first, negative last and tighten down them down.
Finally, check your remote . If they now work, problem solved. If not, I'm afraid it's a trip to the dealer.

WONT TURN TO OFF BATTERY STAYS ON

That can lead to a bad situation, possibly a very bad scenario of ruined electronic parts of the car, like your engine's computer and any other computers on the car, if you have to disconnect the battery with the key on. I would pull a few fuses first, try to cut all power to computers and other electronic parts first. Pulling a fuse to cut power may be less harmful than disconnecting the battery while the devices are powered, which is always discouraged-volt or amp spikes are very deadly to electronic circuits. Once you have pulled some fuses for protection, then disconnect the negative battery post, and everything is now disabled, so you can fix the switch problem. But DO NOT work around the steering column and the wiring there for at least a half hour after disconnecting the battery. The system for the air bag will hold a residual charge for several minutes after power is cut. They are designed to work that way in a crash even if the car's power is lost. After a half hour to 45 minutes, it should be totally incapacitated, where you could remove it to work on the ignition switch or key cylinder, but be very safety conscious, and follow all precautions around air bags. Can't stress that enough.

it could be one of your lock and unlock motors binding. try working each lock manually ann see if one is very hard to move up and you can remove the iod fuse in the power distribution box beside the battery to reset the computer without removing the battery cable. Hope this helps.

My keyless door remote can't lock or unlock car doors despite the fact that the remote is functioning. The car respond to the remote signal but no effect on door locks.

Seems like the remote and the receiving unit stopped working on same channel.
1) Make sure you have the radio security code at hand, because it will trip after disconnecting battery. 2) Disconnect battery to reset alarm computer for 5 minutes or so, and reconnect it. 3) insert key in ignition. 4) press on the remote and don't let go. 5) turn the ignition to the accesories/ radio position. at this point you should see a "key" icon flashing on the dashboard. 6) after 10 seconds or so, let go of the remote. Repeat the operation, just to make sure. Also, do the same sequence for the spare remote, because it will lose the frequency as well.

Replaced starter now wont pass emmisions electronic brain has not reset put 900miles on it how long before brain resets? could a sensor cause the brain not to reset????

the car needs to be in the right conditions for the "brain" to run the emissions tests, the standard procedure is from a cold start, like after sitting overnight, turn all accessories off, air, radio, heat, etc.. let the car idle for 2-3 minutes, get to a highway and cruise at about 45-55 mph for 5 minutes then slow down to a stop and idle for 2 more minutes with the car in drive still, that should make the car complete the tests required to pass emissions, if that doesn't work i'd try disconnecting the battery and trying again the next day
