The car starts but dies within two seconds and after 20 minutes or more of trying to start the car it finally starts. The rest of the day it will start without any problems but will surge a little bit while driving. I just had the fuel filter changed and same cold start problem but it runs better once I can get it to start. It is really cold outside. 1988 Pontiac Grand Am 2.5 engine

Dummy lights. I found that if the tire pressure low light reset button on a 1997 Pont grand prix is located under the steering dash. The button is yellow. Just push it in for 5 seconds and it will reset the indicator light.
If you have a engine service soon light on and the vehicle stalls often. Replace the MAF sensor. It runs about $250.00 from Auto Zone. They will credit back or pay back $92.00 for the old MAF part taken out. This will allow your 1997 Pont grand prix to run without idle problems and stalling issues.

I just went thru a similar problem. When I changed my fuel filter the problem stopped. I can't say that it is the exact solution for your problem. But it is a cheap fix if it is. You can remove the old one and tell before you buy a new one. The filter is located in fron of the gas tank. It comes off easily. If its clogged then replace it. ( I recommend replacing it evey year anyways). There are a few other possible problems that it could be. I hope this helps

What was replaced in the tune up? Usually the coil paks cause these types of issues. Also fuel filter or fuel pump will allow enough fuel to start and sputter like you describe.
