How do you fix code dtc u0131 for mazda 3 2009

Code U0131 = Lost Communication With Power Steering Control Module.
The car's ECU, (It's brain), isn't getting a signal from the power steering system. This could be a wiring issue somewhere in the power steering electronics or a faulty Power Steering Control Module.

Electric power steering info comes on after a few minutes of use if i turn off the engine it works again for a few more minutes or hours.

The power steering control module is the problem. The diagnostics say to replace the power steering motor first, if the steering works its fixed. Most of the time it don't fix the problem and the steering column has to be replaced anyway. The power steering control module is installed on the column and the only way to get it is to replace the column. Dealer cost is around 650.00.
