Air continues to run with engine off

I have a 1994 ford taurus. When I turn the engine off the air conditioner continues to run. I have to disconnect the battery to prevent running it dead. Thanks for any help.

The air conditioner compressor is driven via belt by the engine; if the engine is off, the compressor is off = no AC.

You didn't mention which fan is still running but I'll assume it is the one underthe hood, not the one that circulates passenger compartment air.
What is running is the electric fan that assists with cooling of the heat exchanger of the AC system. You probably have a thermal switch or relay that is not releasing.

Locate the relay/fuse box and check if there is a chart of the relays and fuses to locate the one that isn't releasing and try swapping two relays with the same part number on them to check relay function.

I have a 2003 ford taurus i was driving it like the engine started shaking so i turned off my air conditioner but it just started to lose speed but will not get over about 5mph

run fault codes and find out which sensors are faulty. The loss of power indicates that it is in limp home mode . Check oil level and coolant level at the radiator cap.

1994 Ford taurus overheating, no heat...

when you replaced all of that stuff on the vehicle did you make sure that you don't have a vapor lock in the highest anti-freeze line? to fix run vehicle with line disconnected so air can escape then reconnect. if that dont work you will need to put a T splice in the top anti-freeze line so when the vehicle is running you can open the valve and let air out.
