Dome light won't turn off

There is an overhead console with two map reading lights. They came on by themselves and won't turn off. If I could just find the right fuse I'd just pull the fuse as I don't need the lights but don't want to drain the battery.

Why my interior light want come on!!??

Check the dome light switch. I believe its between the map lights in the front overhead console. You can set it to Always Off, On with Doors, or Always On.

The Dome light and the cargo area light should come on when the door is open and the switch is set to door position, or when set to the always on position.

If only one of the lights come on change the bulb of that light. If neither light comes on change the fuse.

I believe the instrument panel fuse block is located on the passenger side of the center console, to the left of the glove box near the floor. The cover usual lists where and what each fuse does. Look for Interior Lighting, I believe #23. Pull the fuse and check if its broken. If it is replace it. If not you may have electrical issues.

How can i make my interior overhead lights to turn off

These are activated by little push in switches located on the door frame. When you close the door, it pushed the pin switch in and disconnects the power from the inside lights. You should also check the light switch on the dash. There is a setting on the headlight switch usually that allows you to turn on the inside dome lights by that switch. It may be in that position and will keep your inside lights on until the switch is returned back to the normal position.

Changing the interior map light

The bulbs is replaced from the back of the overhead console with 1/4 turn bulb holders.

the overhead console ( non rail version ) is held up with spring clips.

Open the rear compartment, and grab the rear corners and pull down 1 at a time. They are very hard to pull the 1st few times. Once you have the read released, there is another set of spring clips in the front, so be careful how far down you pull the rear, until the front is released.

Once you can see the back of the overhead console, you will see the 1/4 turn bulb holders for the map and interior lights.

Replacing the front dome light

The front dome lamp & map lamps are replaced from the back, they are 1/4 turn bulb holders.

The overhead console ( non rail ) is held on with spring clips. Open the rear compartment, and in each corner grab the console with your thumb and index finger and pull down. The 1st time you remove it, it is very hard to pull down, the springs are very stiff.

The rail system, the service manual says to pull the overhead bins 1st, then pull the consoles out ( also spring clips )

HOW DO YOU REMOVE FRONT DOME-MAP LIGHT HOUSING

For the non rail system overhead console :

There are spring clips holding the console to the roof.

Open the compartment, and grasp each corner, and pull down. This will take a moderate amount of pull to release the spring clips.

There are 4 or 6 spring clips holding the console to the ceiling, at the least the center spring clips will release when you pull down on the rear.
remove the front held in place by the spring clips. There are 2 connectors for the overhead console, these have ~ 6" if slack in them.

From this point, you can remove the connectors, or you will see the gray bulb holders for the map / interior lamps. These are 1/4 twist bulb holders.

2004 Lincoln LS - Dome lights stay on

The dome light usually is controlled by the light switch. When you turn the switch all the way to one side it will turn on the light. It is not on the autolamp system.

There is also a manual control on some of the overhead lights for map reading. These are push switches on the sides of the lights or even the clear cover.

One of your doorjam switches is shorted if you can not turn the light off any other way.

Finally, take a heavy rag and use it to remove the bulb from the fixture after you remove the cover. The cover usually squeezes smaller and the tabs will release from the fixture.
