SOURCE: 420 code catalyst system efficiency below

You could have an enefficient converter. Question is what caused it to go bad? I have attended seminars on code 420, Possible causes are lack of spark or clogged fuel injectors. there have been times where the spark plug wire lays on the engine and over time it wears a weak spot in the side of the wire, its not enough to throw a miss fire code but it keeps the full amount of spark from getting to the plug and not burning the all the fuel in the cyl. A leaky injector would also cause to much fuel to be deliverd into the cyl and not get burned.

Hope this helps.

P0455-kia_2005_kia_optima engine check light keeps coming 0n

You need to have someone with an OBD II reader check the error codes. It could be something like an oxygen sensor or something more serious.

My 03 Audi A4 1.8T check engine light keeps coming on and computer and mechanical inspections reveal nothing. My mechanic who has taken care of the car with regular synthetic oil changes thinks the problem...

if the check engine light is on then there should be a fault code logged but a general obd code reader will not allways work especially with german cars cos they use differant systems/protocols and will only let you read basic obd generic codes to comply with the basic laws so you may have to take to a franchise dealer and pay

Code 1529keep coming up no drveable problems

If the code you are mentioning is p1529 then it is generated by Transmission control module(TCM) to the trigger the check engine light . You have to check the code of your OBD port by using an scan tool that would give you the exact error codes from which the faulty part can be identified.

Check engine light will be triggered in case of any fault in any part in the car.Even a loose gas cap will trigger the check engine light. So having it scanned with an code reader connected to OBD port will help you to identify the exact fault.

I keep getting a service engine soon light on and NO CODE on OBD

Have someone check it with a different scan tool it possible. Not all scan tools will work.If the light is coming on and you notice the vehicle is not running the same as before, there is a code in there and you have to get that code to diagnose the problem.

Wrench light keeps coming on, dealer charged 200.00 to see what is wrong and found nothing. The light keeps coming on. Can anyone help with what may be wrong?

Those lights come on when something is wrong that a sensor is reading...take it to autozone have a free scan done...they will be able to tell you what OBD code is coming up.

How do I turn off the 1993 toyota camry check engine light?

if the problem goes away on it's own, the light will turn off. Otherwise you'll need to bring it to a car shop where they can scan it to retrieve the codes and reset it for you. If you have an OBD-II scanner, you can reset it yourself

Check engine light doesnt go out all belts changed still comes on

what kind of vehicle? what year? cause for about $40. or so, you can goto an auto parts store and get the OBD reader which conects to the computer under the dash in most cars and trucks anything prior to 1986 is OBD 1 anything AFTER SHOULD BE obd2 CHECK THE CODE to see what it tells you is wrong, that way you will know to be able to repair it. this will save you quite a bit of money to do it yourself then to be paying hourly rates to have a mechanic troubleshoot it all day. once you find out what code it is giving you for the check engine light, and get it repaired, you can use the OBD reader to reset the light.

My subaru legacy L 1995 version shows "check engine" everytime i drive the car.how can i solve this problem?also it cant start after i drive and stop.i t starts at its own time.

Hi

Kindly have the computer scanned for codes . If the "check engine" light is on, the computer will have memory of where the problem is coming from. Take it to a nationally recognized parts store(like auto zone) and have them scan it. Most will do it for free, so there is no out of pocket expense.

Let me know what you find because this seems to be becoming a common problem.

Thanks
Rylee
