Start by cleaning your throttle body.  May need an Idle Air Control valve.

Car has 2 fuel pumps, one under car, opne in tank. Classic sign of failed tank fuel pump, especially if it happens more when tank is low on fuel, 1/4 tank or less. See www.swedishbricks,com for help.

The stering on my Volvo wont turn right when startig up willgo left and go OK after a few seconds oillevel is up but murky. Uwe

See if you can get someone to help you, because someone needs to start the car and someone needs to look under the car, don't lift the car up while looking under there. You need to see if the steering wheel is turning under the car. It may be turning right, but it may be something blocking it from turning left. A tie rod could be broken.

Power steering works hard at low speeds parking etc put then seems ok when you get going maybe rack and pinion

The VOLVO 740 does not have speed sensitive power steering, so is a little harder to turn when going slow.but is very light when doing over 100mph.

'88 Volvo 740GLE won't get past 30 mph

Horrible squeal. If my 740 made a horrible squeal I would be upset also. These ideas - timing belt has somehow slipped out of time. Easy check. One of the other belts are slowing the engine any of them can squeal: The alternator belt The power steering belt The fan belt. Does the noise occur only when driving? Does the engine sound normal when revving in neutral? Does turning on the lights or a/c affect the noise? Does the power steering work when car is standing? Is the squeal heard when turning the wheels. A logical diagnosis will identify and eliminate these easy to fix problems.

Steering wheel lock stuck, key won't turn

Thank you thank you! This solved my problem. I have a V70 and I parked it on a steep hill and cranked the wheel toward the curb. When I tried to turn the key in the ignition it would not turn and the wheel was in a tightly locked position. Wouldn't budge -or so I thought. The best solution was right. I pulled the wheel INTO the steer and it gave with some resistance as if it was on a spring. That was all I needed to turn the key in the lock.
