Very little air to defroster but dash is always blowing

My daughter drives this car and told me it takes a long time for the windshield to defrost. So I drove it tonight and there's definitley plenty of heat coming out but it's mostly blowing out of the dash (head) setting. When I changed it to just floor it was still blowing out the dash and a little to the floor. What could be the problem? Thanks

There's a valve that's not switching fully... Like when you change from defroster to vent...It supposed to change to allow the air to go another direction...It might not be changing correctly or froze in position. There's a vacuum line that's pitched not allowing the valve to change also

SOURCE: 94 Celica Heater not blowing

Could be a blown fuse for the blower motor or the blower motor itself is worn out. There is also a blower motor resister pack that could be at fault--it has three resisters in it that vary the blower speed--but it would be unusual for it to fail in such a way that the blower stops. Usually it just gets stuck on one speed. However, the resister is located down near your feet on one side (I forget which for that model) and if the wiring connector becomes unplugged (from an accidental kick), then the blower won't work.

SOURCE: A/C blows from defrost and floor vents, nothing from dash vents.

the switch where you turn it to blowing at your head is probably out. you will need to replace the switch control where your defrost, foot, head etc. what make, model, year is your vehicle?

clean or replace the cabin air filter. It is located behind the glove box. See owner's manual for directions.

Defrost will not defrost my windshield

You do not mention the type of car you have. If you have air that blows out the defroster and panel vents you should have defrost. Do you smell a sweet odor coming from the car? This could be antifreeze leaking though the heater core. This will cause your windshield to remain foggy.

Windshield defrost

Can you feel (with your hand) a difference in the air pressure blowing in the driver's side windshield vent and the passenger's side vent? If so, I'd bet that something has fallen down the defroster vent and is partially blocking the channel on the driver's side. You could try taking a length of fairly stiff wire or a straightened wire coat hanger and sliding it down the driver's side defroster vent to see if you can dislodge whatever is down there, but you can't get the obstruction completely out that way. Removing the defroster ducting is not a simple task, but an experienced auto technician can do it (parts of the dash board have to be removed along with (possibly) the radio and anything else in the center portion of the dash. Good luck.

Heater only blows out defrost

The defrost position is the default for safety so that air always blows on the windshield in case of frost.
The most common problem is a faulty blend door under the dash.
In most cases the door must be calibrated with a scan tool if you replace it.

A/C will only blow through defrost vents

Common question on this site. On late model cars, the vents are controlled by blend door motors. Small electric motors open and close doors to direct air flow.
Chances are you have a blend door that is stuck or a failed motor.
The default position is the defrost to make sure the windshield is always clear.
Someone will need to look behind the dash to see if all of the doors will move on demand.

Little heat

Check the air divert-er door, does the air blow any harder when the panel controls are set to any other direction? If so check for blockage in the defrost vents.

When i turn my defrost on why does my air blow out the vents and not the defrost

It should blow out where the windshield is, and a little through the vents, maybe the vents inside the dash are stuck or broken
