It's behind the center of the dashboard. You will need to remove the dash board to access the core. Just follow where the coolant hoses go through the firewall, that eill tell you where it is. Sorry no shortcut for the dash removal, only way to remove it is removing the dash.

SOURCE: how do i replace a heater core in a 1994 vw passat

remove dashboard.  and knee panel.  center console.  remove bolt holding tip stereing wheel. disconnect all wiring. leave heater controls connected to heater housing, but remove from dash. seperate heater housing from blower housing by removing 6 clips.  remove two nuts from under hood on firewall and disconnect heater hoses.  pull heater housing from firewall and seperate from blower housing.  remove heater core from heater housing.  took me an hour and a half to remove.  two clips are between firewall and heater housing, and was able to pop them off when i tugged on heater housing.

My 2002 volkswagen passat is blowing cold air when I put the heater on. I took it to a dealer and they said that it could be because my car has a sensor that detects the temperature in the car and when its...

Your brother's mechanic may be correct but you may want to double check if you have a bad flap which opens / closes the access of coolant thru your heater hoses to your heater core. This component is called an actuator which may be defective.

2004 passat heater isn't blowing hot air. both hoses are hot going into the heater core. anyone had this same problem and how can i fix it?

we have a 2004 passat with the same problem. after many different attempts. what we did was. drain the heater core, blow air through the system and then put a mild solvent in the system and let it set for about 20 minutes. flush the system and refill with coolant. now our heater burns us out. use low air pressure and be very carefull. heater core was full of junk that came out after we flushed with solvent.

2002, VW Passat, 2.8 Liter, 30V, ATQ No heat, Climatronic System. Control module is good, Fluid levels are good, thermostat good. Can't find the Heater Control Valve, need the location for this valve???

No heater valve on this car. Heat is controlled with temperature doors that blend the ac and heat to give you the desired temp. The core is probably clogged. It usually does not clog until the coolant wont pass through it but the fins get cruddy and don't transfer heat to you. Try taking the hoses off the core and blast water and air through it then retry the heat.

Heating doesn't work

locate the hoses going into the heater core, let the engine warm up. Once the engine is hot feel both hoses, if one is not hot, the heater core is plugged up. If that is the situation, remove both hoses and flush it well with a garden hose

I have a 2002 passat with no heat I put a garden hose to the heater core and water passes thru it easily. but when the heater hoses are attached the coolant does not circulate does this car have a valve...

check the heater tap,it controls the flow through the heater core,it sounds like its not opening.even google images to see what it is and where its located, its a fairly straight foward fix, depending on why the tap wont open

I dont have heating in my passat gls 2002. any

do you have a 2.8 v-6. If so i hate to be the bearer of bad news but most likely it will be a clogged heater core. Take a look at you coolant bottle reservoir is the coolant a dark brown crusty color? If so that means that all the build up from the bad coolant has plugged your heater core to the point that it is not flowing anything thru it. That will be about a 1000 dollar repair. sorry for bad news

No heat 2002 passat

If you want to back wash just reverse the hoses on the outside where they connect to the heater core. if that don't work look on each hose and see if one of them has a device that has a vacuum line running to it . If there is this is a water shut off thats activated when the air con is on. temporarly you can just put a coupling in where the device comes out
