YES IS THAT IS CALLED CRANKS GOOD BUT WILL NOT START
AND THAT HAS 50+ CAUSES.
no engine told , is car in USA or Mexico or Chile? where.
cars outside USA are very different. for sure engines. and EFI.

1.95 L LR1 I4
2.0 L LQ2 I4
2.5 L L38/LN8 I4
2.8 L LR2/LL2 V6
4.3 L L35/LB4 V6
Diesel:
2.2 L LQ7 I4

which is it? we can not guess cars ,engines or countries.

1984 IS 39 YEAR OLD CAR (very few run now,)
buy it dead?
BACK THEN, THERE WERE ONLY PAPER BOOKS
NO PDF, NO DIGITAL DOCUMENTS AT ALL.
THE MEANS ONLY GOOGLING FOR SCANS OF SCHEMATICS IS ONE WAY TO FIND THEm. (and to search add the engine name)

WHAT TO DO IS.
IF IT DOES CRANK IS:

• check compression on the engine,
• check for spark next on all cylinders, not just1.
• now try test fuel (spray can, ) for 3 second run if cars fuel system is dead.
• fix bad fueling if spray fuel makes engine sound good.

takes tools. , meter and gauges to find the problem.

now my wild useless guess.
bad spark plugs ,bad wires, to them
all filters clogged,
if lucky., only that. called tuneup in the olden days

check primary fuel filter for diesel.If none take hose and blow back to tank.You should hear air bubbling. then try letting pump pick up fuel.You could have a clogged screen in the tank.

pick up coil in the dist/ a bad module/a plugged cat

no it has electronic ignition. Check to see if it sparks, next smell for fuel, if you have fuel and spark consider timing both ignition and valve timing

There are 2 things you can do. Pick up a copy of Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part # 10330. It's about $20 and full of info for that engine, Not only maintenance but also diagnosis and common service repairs. There is a web site call The Diesel Page.com. It is specifically for 6.2 and 6.5 owners. Hope this helps.

this could be seveal things ,if it is running now and no more problems you my have had a vaper lock in the fuel line ,as for the rear seal thseal is around 20.00 bucks but this is a fairly labor intensive job

Check your crank position sensor and its connections!
