There isn't a torque spec since those bearing are pre-loaded. You place the unit on a good known vic and get a breaker bar and you might even have to put an extention on that and you begin to tighten unitil you fell the bearing start to load...a little extra short turn wouldn't hurt at that point.

I have a 99 chevy silverado with the 8.6 3.73 rear end. Is the torque specs for the rear yoke 270 ft lbs like the gmc Sierra

If you have an 8.6" ring you should have a 10 bolt axel. With this axel you don't torque the pinion nut. This style axel has a crush collar. Down below I forwarded the preload torque specs. If you do have a 12 bolt axel, the ring gear does get torqued but the ring gear will not be 8.6" Please write back if you need anything thing else. How do you remove the front drive shaft in a 1995 jeep grand cherokee limited

Use white paint, chalk or a scribe to mark the relationship of the front U joint to the front diferential pinion yoke. Mark the relationship of the rear U joint flange to the transfer case companion flange. Unbolt the front end of the drive shaft from the pinion yoke and the rear end from the transfer case companion flange and remove the drive shaft from the vehicle.
hope thei info helps.

What are the front wheel bearing torque specs? For 2000 Chev silverado 2500 4x4,motor 6.0.

Those vehicles should have a hub assembly which incorporates a bearing and hub in one unit. To my knowledge the bearing is not serviceable. The hub assembly is bolted to the steering knuckle, so there actually is no wheel bearing torque. The tire/wheel assembly bolts directly to the wheel flange on the new hub assembly.

Yes what is the torque spec for the nut on the rear diff yoke?

Hi, there is no real torque spec., as the pinion gets tightened against a crush collar, creating a preload for the pinion, as the preload is tightened to 20-25 lbin, on a rotational measurement, the nut torques itself. This measurement can only be measured with the ring gear, and center section out of the housing. This may sound confusing, but this is how a typical setup would work. If you are replacing the seal, because of a leak, you could remove the flange, replace the seal reinstall the flange, snug it up, untill it is seated, then give it a small amount of tightening. You should not over tighten this nut, as it could result in pinion bearing damage. If you use caution, you can do this without an issue, Good luck...Coop

How do i replace a driveshaft for a 1997 lincon cotanental

I searched under 1997 lincoln continental and found this: Driveshaft and U-Joints
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Town Car and Mark VII-VIII Fig. 1: The bolts retaining the rear driveshaft yoke-to-differential flange require a 12mm, 12 point wrench or socket to loosen them 91197p12.jpg
Fig. 2: Remove the bolts retaining the rear driveshaft yoke-to-differential flange 91197p11.jpg
Fig. 3: Separate the driveshaft from the axle flange and . . . 91197p13.jpg
Fig. 4: . . . disengage the driveshaft from the transmission output shaft 91197p14.jpg
Fig. 5: Insert a plug onto the splines of the transmission output shaft to prevent fluid from leaking out 91197p15.jpg
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2. Mark the position of the driveshaft yoke on the axle companion flange so they can be reassembled in the same way to maintain balance.
  3. Remove the flange bolts and disconnect the driveshaft from the axle companion flange.
  4. Allow the rear of the driveshaft to drop down slightly.
  5. Pull the driveshaft and slip yoke rearward until the yoke just clears the transmission extension housing seal. Mark the position of the slip yoke in relation to the transmission output shaft, then remove the driveshaft.
  6. Plug the transmission to prevent fluid leakage. To install:
  7. Lubricate the yoke splines with suitable grease.
  8. Remove the plug from the transmission and inspect the extension housing seal; replace if necessary.
  9. Align the slip yoke and output shaft with the marks made at removal and install the yoke into the transmission extension housing. Be careful not to bottom the slip yoke hard against the transmission seal.
  10. Rotate the axle flange, as necessary, to align the marks made during removal.
  11. Install the driveshaft yoke to the axle flange. Install the bolts and tighten to 71–95 ft. lbs. (95–130 Nm).
  12. Lower the vehicle.
