Hello, my 1989 ford 555c backhoe is not sending out a charge for the battery ,i've change the alternator twice and still no charge. can anyone tell me where i can get a schematic of the wiring or tell me what i can do next? 55amp alt. also diesel
Alternater has two leads(wires) take a jumper wire and zap the snall wire connection. just zap it, don't hold power to it... injury hazard when around running componants. have engine running when zapping. good luck and be careful
We just had the same issue with our 555c. What a nightmare! We have the service manuals which were not completely helpful.. We changed two alternators and checked all the wiring. The problem is athe battery temperature sensor. When it fails the system will not charge the battery. Change it. !. It solved our problems. It now charges 13.8 volts.

Do you mean to say that the charge light stays on all the time upon usage or is the battery getting drainned at use?
Have you also checked the charging rate after replacing the alternator ?
Does the backhoe have an outboard voltage regulator (not in the alternator)?
we have no such tech info avail, suggest u get yourself a Ford electrical troubleshooting guide, avail from the dealer for around $40
