My 2003 Kia Spectra has Diagnostic codes: P1404 & P0444.?.?

Virtually the entire motor trade is in favour of NGK spark plugs, the parent company of which is Nippon Denso, original equipment on many Asian built vehicles.

Go to Autozone,have them scan your vehicle,it's free and it will display a trouble code and you can show it here and you can get a quick solution.You can purchase a scan tool at walmart.

• What causes this error code is an EGR fault. If you remove the EGR and give it a real good cleaning and clear the code there is a good chance the code will stay away. Those EGR's get real clogged.

• There is a possibility that a simple good cleaning will not keep the code away in which case I would recommend replacing the EGR.

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.

When the Check Engine light is turned on, the computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls and monitors of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible faults that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.

that code means exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve closed position performance....in other words stuck closed...replace EGR valve.then it should pass will never pass otherwise....might cost @around 100 bucks but call around and check dealer some parts are cheaper at dealer. hope this helps

the P1404 code doesnt exist in the kia data codes but this one is in the generic codes and if its correct its showing a fault with the EGR valve but i would take it to a kia garage if you have been able to read the codes correctly

suggest you by a do it yourself book at your local auto parts store or try a used book store .go to the troble shooting section .as far as diagnostic.im thinking you mean check engine light .you have to have it on or came on to get a code pulled off with a code reader.but your vehicle has an on board system thats the one located by the fuse box in you engine compartment .the do it yourself book will tell you how to do this. just a shot in the dark find your mass air flow .disconect the pig tail, try to start .if that is the problem your car should run ,but realy bad.with the car running plug the pig tail back in the car should die or run even worse.this is my best without more info .you have 3 main trouble shooting air,gas,electrical. got to narrow it down

Take vehicle to AutoZone for free diagnostic. They will give you a print out showing trouble codes. If you still need a automotive manual for your car, you can get it there also for about 15 bucks.

If you go to an Autozone or Advanced Auto they can give your car an engine diagnostic and they can also give you a printout of the codes and their meaning.
