07 passat code p0642 related to other codes

code p0642 refers to ECM-knock control defective or sensor reference voltage A circuit low or system voltage- malfunction===causes for ecm is ECM--- for voltage A wiring is short to positive --- for system voltage ---wiring--poor connection--battery---alternator
code p2014 refers to intake manifold air control actuator position sensor/ switch bank 1 circuit malfunction=== causes --wiring --intake manifold air control actuator position sensor/switch
code p0106 refers to manifold absolute pressure MAP sensor/barometric pressure sensor-range/performance problem===causes--intake /exhaust leak--wiring--MAP sensor---Baro sensor.
code p0089 refers to fuel pressure regulator --performance problem===causes--fuel pressure regulator--mechanical fault. I would suggest that you have the battery load tested and the alternator checked for correct output as it may be the common reason for the codes .P0089 will not be electrical as it being a mechanical fault then the regulator needs replacing

I have a 99 passat and recently took out the battery now my check engine light is on. Is there any way to reset the codes without spending a lot of money?

best way to reset the code is unplug the battery for 120 sec then plug it back on. HOWEVER here is the problems with V.W there battery are not normal, they need more then the normal 12volts. I would make sure that they gave you the right battery.. Passat need i think 14.9 volts. if the battery is showing only 12 volts the cars computer will think somthing is wrong.

try reseting it first then if that dose not help you can take the car to autoZone and have then run an obd2 test on it..

Also the light may go off after 60-80 miles..

hope this helps

EPS and Check engine light on 2004 Volkswagen Passat Turbo

I note that you posted your question 14 Feb 09, so happy belated Valentine's Day! Anyway, I own a 2004 VW Passat 1.8 and am currently facing the same problem (EPC light and check engine light on) and subsequently, I coded it out, which was P0322. I took my other vehicle (more reliable) into the VW dealership in Olympia Washington. I was going to replace the EPC sensor, which typically handles what is sent to the car's brain, telling it how much gas it needs to run. However, the technicians at the dealership told me to code it out before investing any money without knowing exactly what should be replaced.

I took the code and determined the "crank sensor" was defective. If you call around, you should be quoted anywhere between $48 and $90 respectfully. If your VW was lurching like it was missing for a split second at a usual speed, or died at stops, then I would say you were experiencing the same problem I was having. Hopefully, this will fix your problem? The part is pretty inexpensive, but I think what VW charges to replace the sensor, is highway robbery. Anyone in your family mechanically inclined? Good luck!
