Youhave a bad ground problem. remove thr lenses, and chech the wiring behind. if it checks good, then check the wiring behind the rear panel

1991 Camry, when lights are on Tail lights are bright as if brakes are on...Brake light is dim when brakes are on as if they are working around the wrong way, is this an earth issue ?

Very possibly. If all lights go out when you have the tail lights turned and and step on the brake, then almost certainly it's an earth/ground problem. Get a wiring diagram and determine the location of the earth/ground connection for the rear lights.

Dim tail light.

Brake light switch under dash and actuated by the brake pedal lever is out of adjustment or faulty. Adjust or replace it and you'll have your brake lights back. The dim tail lights may just be that you have possible replaced them with the wrong bulbs or the ground to light housing is faulty.

Replace multi-function switch 2005 mariner

The tail light is usually a bulb with lower wattage, so it won't glow as brightly as the brake and turn lights.. There should be one or two other bulbs in either of the two tail assy's. The turn signal can use the same bulb as the brake light. If so, it's up to the flasher assy to direct the lights to both come on, and/or for one to flash if the brake and turn signal is on, e.g.. There could also be a backup light.

So if the brake and turn lights don't operate, look to the fuses, and flasher assy. for possible replacement.

99 neon running tail lights do not work but tail lights work when brakes are applied....help

what you are seeing is the bright filament on the bulb working,
the tail light bulbs have two filaments in each bulb, one is dim and one is bright, the bright one is to the brake and turn signals, that way when you step on the brake with the tail lights on the same lens light up brighter to warn drivers behind you..
you need to check the fuses in the car for tail lights first, see if your plate light is on that will tell you the bulbs are just blown

89 Honda Accord brake light and turn signal seem connected

Looks as though you have earthing problems.
I would make sure that the earthing is O.K on flasher and brake.
You would then find your symptom disappear.

Hope that sorts it.
