sounds like the toque converter is locking and unlocking have the trans serviced and flushed if this does not cure the problem then you could be looking at a trans rebuild or replacement.Check the fluid first could just be low.
It may be a faulty relay - usually behind the radio - it makes a clicking sound when you hit the button on the shift lever. Or it may be the overdrive solinoid which is mounted on the top of the tranny. Check all of your connestions first. One other thing - the wire from the shift lever overdrive button to the overdrive solenoid on the tranny may run over the top of the drive shaft - check for wear
position the shifter into the drive position, pull down on the plastic trim directly underneath the leather portion of the shifter. theres two phillips head screws behind that. remove the shifter knob and the plastic piece. the trim will pop out if you pull directly upwards, disconnect the heated seats(if you have them) and the trac button. hope that helps.
slide the lower part of shifter handle down and you will find two screws, but there is 2 wires coming in from center console for overdrive button.you have to remove the center console cover and remove the 2 wires from connector and then pull up threw handle.when you go back together you will have to guide them back threw the handle.
