sounds like you may have some linkage problems

Does your Lincoln have ABS?
Did you Flush the Brake Line?
Do you feel a Pulsation in the Steering Wheel?

There are only a few things that could cause this...
a. Bad Proportioning Valve
b. Problem with your Brake Master Cylinder
c. Defective or Warped Rotor
d. Restriction in Brake Line

pop the trunk and right behind where the lights are pull the carpet down and their will be of the following depending on the trim.

You will either see the light sockets themselves that you can twist and pull to change the bulb, or you will see the plastic nuts/screws that you can remove to remove the entire assembly in order to access the bulbs.

If it's your 3rd brake light, the screws to access the housing are located in the upper part of the trunk

check to see if any of the sensor rings are broken at the axles unplugging any sensor will disable the ABS system

You have a serious vacuum leak affecting the engine and a brake proble, -The connection between them is the brake vacuum assist and the brake master cylinder. The brake master cylinder is the target componant. Change it out and other related problems should be resolved. Good Luck &be safe-Ned

possible that the key is worn or there maybe something jamming the mechanism inside the door

check your throttle cable it might be getting stuck on something

need to check the wheel bearings - tire size if you have replaced the tires recently

Same problem with an LS...wheel bearings. Comes in the whole hub assembly. Just had it fixed for $340.
