FUSE PANEL IDENTIFICATION (1983-90 LINCOLN TOWN CAR) The fuse panel is located in the instrument panel to the left of the steering column. To expose fuse panel, remove lower steering column finish panel.

Sounds like the drivers door module issue, take the door panel off unplug it make sure there is a good connection, Do the door locks, trunk and gas cap open from the key-less entry door pad?

This problem is caused by a bad Driver Door Module. It is available at your Ford dealer for about $300.00. It comes with a code to reprogram your keyless entry system. If you can remove your driver door trim panel you can easily do the job yourself. I have heard a quote of $550.00 if Ford does the job but that could vary depending on your location. You could buy used for around $100.00 and Ford will reprogram it, after it is installed, for $125.00.

Both of these systems are controlled by the Driver Door Module. If your fuses check out you might go there. Located inside the driver door.

The code is on a paper label attached to a large plastic box containing several wiring harnesses behind the driver side door panel. Posts about it being on the trunk hinge arms, behind trunk panels, on computer module, behind the fuse box, and 'you have to go to the dealer' are incorrect for this series of Town Cars. After you remove the panel (you do not need to disconnect any wires), you will see the box up near the rear view mirror. An example code (3/4) (1/2) (5/6) (9/0) (1/2). If you press the keypad buttons in this order,left to right, the door locks will operate in the manner described in your opwner's manual.

the best lube to use for these latch assembleys is PB BLASTER available at your local parts store. spray each latch really good one at a time, then open and close door 10 to 15 times. trust me PB BLASTER takes care of this 90% of the time
