I sometimes have the same problems on my 2003 Nissan Altima. Try turning the wheel to the left and take out the key. If this doesn't work, step on the break and take off the parking brake and take out the key. If worse comes to worse and neither works, start the engine and reposition the car and park. Hopefully, you won't have to resort to this. However, drastic situations call for drastic measures. Good luck.

Nissan key trouble

Unfortunately, the keys have an anti-theft chip in their bodies that communicates with the car's system.
Try Googling ("Nissan/car key programming" for a cheaper price or phone independent garages. The keys can probably only be done by an authorized Nissan dealer. Also, phone locksmiths for their opinion.

I cant turn the ignition or move the steering wheel on my 2003 nissan altima. When I insert the key I get the usual sound but I cant turn the key at all, and the steering wheel seems like its stuck.

i think there is a ignition problem , might try replacing it , of course you cant turn the steering if the key wont turn , its a theft prevention device.

How to remove broken key in Ignition switch cylinder Nissan altima

If your key is magnetic and it is not jambed in there to much you may be able to get a magnet and pull it out. If it is stuck pretty bad you will have to take the steering column apart, but trying calling a lock smith first, he may be able to help.

make sure the trunk is locked and the ignition is off.
the altima will not lock if the key is in the ignition.
it may think there is a key in the ignition because the switch is bad.

Nissan Altima brake light

what that means is your socket is is probably shorted to your running lights there is a constant feed of voltage to that circuit. i would take a circuit probe and trace a wire to the spot of the short. good luck.
