1990 325I overheating

I have a 1990 325I BMW and its overheating. I've changed the thermostat, the hoses, the radiator cap, the water pump and belts, and fan clutch and it's still overheating. I can drive on the freeway with no problems of overheating. But as soon as I get into town, its all bad. It starts getiing hot. I can't figure out what the heck the problem is. Can you?

Have you ever replaced your fan motor? if no, have it replaced.. if yes, you probably need to replace your radiator. try to get those after market aluminum radiators. This will give your car better cooling.

Its also possible that your car's alternator is not at its best anymore thus giving low amperage to your fan motor and other electrical devices. this will slow down the RPM for your fan. This will cause your engine to overheat due to insufficient cooling.

he said that he already replaced the water pump.. that automatically means that he already flushed his radiator bro.. water will be drained out if you take this part out..

Why is my 2001 bmw 325i still is overheating after i changed the water pump, thermostat and purge the system?

Well Michael put your hand on radiator upper hose and then the lower hose right after car warms up and just starts overheating is there a temperature difference if so one of two things is going on thermostat not opening even though it is new or there is still an air bubble in the cooling system if nthere is no difference and still overheating might have to explore headgasket being blown

Why is my car overheating?

You might have a clogged radiator. If so replace the radiator. I would first replace the thermostat as it might be bad. When they go bad they usually stay stuck in the closed position. When closed there is no flow of water to or from the radiator. You can check the thermostat by removing it, it is located on your upper radiator hose, the return hose. To check it boil a pan of water and and using a pair of pliers hold the thermostat in the hot water. If the thermostat is bad it will not open. Hope this helps.

2000 Linc Cont overheating. I replaced water pump, thermostat, belt & tensioner, blew through top hose out bottom (rad not clogged). Top hoses hot, bottom hose cold.

Do you have any coolant flow thru radiator with cap off?

Is thermostat in correctly?

Do a Combustion Leak Test at radiator or cap,
on gases from coolant. You may have a Head
Gasket going bad

Overheating: 1999 bmw 323i m series 2.5 ..Installed: new water pump , thermostat. radiator, new Water Reservoir, cap.. hose on top side hot , lower hose cold even when engine is hot..no water circulating at...

the water pump and thermostat should have solved it. an air pocket can cause that but usually not to that degree.

don't get one of those cheap *** plastic impeller water pump for sissies. Get the metal impeller one. get a cool running thermostat and drill two 3/16" holes in it 180 degreess from each other. you may have installed the t-stat backwards.

Bmw 316i overheating

check if the water is circulating as you might have a blockage in the header tank. this can be checked by opening the radiator cap and check if the water is circulating on top.

Car overheat frequently and at time the engine sound is very loud

Several things can cause this overheating. Have you recently done a:
1. Check Hoses for Leaks
2. Check Radiator for Leaks --- Also, Change Radiator Cap ( can loose pressure there if
cap is bad)
3. Check Water Pump for Leaks. If Water Pump is bad, you will hear a loud noise from it
4 Complete Tune Up? Should be done at least 1x a Yr. Depending on how much you drive the Vehicle. Includes: Plugs, Plug Wires, Gas Filter, Air Breather Filter, PCV Valve, Adjust Timing,
Check Belts -- see if worn
5. Changed your Thermostat & Gasket and have the correct degree Thermostat in the Vehicle?
6.. Had your Radiator Rod and Cleaned out?
7. Temperture Sending Unit (located near Thermostat) could be bad
8. 02-Sensor (Generally located in the Exhaust Manifold - needs a socket with a space in it
to allow the Socket to fit over this top wire of the 0-2 Sensor )
9. Change oil and oil Filter.
10. Change Gas Tank Cap ---

Do all this yearly ( except the Radiator Rod & Clean ( do every 2-3 yrs), and you should not have
any over-heating nor stalling out, etc. and should pass emissions as well.
