Yes, the car will be running good, but, the timing belt does get weak over time, and can break or "jump time" (jump a tooth or 2), at any given moment, with NO warning.

The flat rate on that engine is 4.0 hrs. At my labour rate here, That equates to $280.00 plus a $50.00 belt. I get roughly $350/Celica belt replaced total; w/o a water pump upsell.
$800.00? Exhorbitant. Looks like the shop is charging you $185.00/hr. Find another shop.
That price is not robbery, it is rape.
