The Enhanced
Traction System
warning light may
come on for the
following reasons:


If you turn the system off by shifting to SECOND (2)
or FIRST (1), the warning light will come on and stay
on. To turn the system back on, shift to THIRD (3) or
AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE (

Traction System” in the Index.


If the Enhanced Traction System warning light
comes on and stays on for an extended period of
time when the system is turned on, your vehicle
needs service. Adjust your driving accordingly.


The warning light will come on when you set your
parking brake with the engine running, and it will
stay on if your parking brake doesn’t release fully.
If the transaxle shift lever is in any position other
than FIRST (1) or SECOND (2) and the warning
light stays on after your parking brake is fully
released, it means there’s a problem with the system.


If the traction control system is affected by an
engine-related problem, the system will turn off
and the warning light will come on.

Ok just so you know that service traction control and stabiltrak well come on if there is any check engine light on and if it's running poorly then i have to guess that there is also a check engine light on!! Once there any repairs are done then you would have to clear out the codes in the ECM, traction and suspension in that order!! GOOD LUCK !

It could be your wheel bearings, jack your car so one wheel is off the ground. Make sure the vehicle is properly blocked. Firmly grasp the tire/wheel an shake it back and forth for play.

The service engine soon light would have nothing to do with the oil or the coolant. There are many things that can cause the SES to come on, and some of them will cause the traction off light (TRAC OFF) or similar to come on because the traction has been dissabled. You will need to have the check engine light codes scanned. There will be trouble codes stored in the computer. From there the problem would need to be diagnosed, problem repaired, then codes cleared. Here is site with a list of some typical trouvble codes......

your traction control works off of the abs unit did your abs light come on also? if there is a problem with the abs it will shut off the traction control. might wanna have the abs system scanned for trouble codes.it is also possible the conditions you were driving in caused erratic readings so if it has not come back on it is probably ok
