Question about 2001 Ford Focus
2001 ford focus , while sitting at a stop sin or idling in the yard , feels like its gonna stall , seems like its starving for fuel or air , maybe catylatic convertor , not a rotten egg smell from under the hood , but there is a smell under the hood
1. Vacuum leaks. Check all mounting bolts at the intake, check all hoses by wiggling them around. Listen with stethoscope or a length of fuel hose held up to your ear with engine running. You will be looking for a hissing sound. 2. Check egr valve. 3. Check air filter. 4. Check timing belt. ( you will need a timing light) If the mark is jumping around, your belt has jumped. If it stays basically in one place, it's good. 5. Check camshaft lobes. 6. Valves burnt or leaking. 7 Dirty or clogged injectors. 8 . Faulty idle control system.
