It is an auto controlled heater there is no clicking sounds when i turn on fans or heater there is heat but it doesnt blow out it used to start blowing if i hit the dash board area hard enough now it doesnt work at all got the car from my older brother everything ran great until the heat and cold air gave out
If you saying the fan wont blow it may need a fan motor not uncommon it might be a speed switch if it has one some time you can hook a wire on the back of the speed switch plug in to get it on high use a 14 gauge wire or bigger a small jumper bent in a loop with the rubber peeled off the ends and shove them in the switch plug find the 12 volt ht wire on the plug with light or vom then try the other wires one at a time til fan runs with ignition switch on

Replace the heater actuator switch it is not allowing the door to open, Ours did the same thing so I relaced it . it cost 90.00 from ford

guys have you checked for a vaccum leak????? there is a little plastic ball with a vaccum line going to it that controls the outside air coming in. check for a leak in this line
SOURCE: heater is blowing but its cold air not hot air 2000 expedition
Make sure the heater core is in the open position by using the shut off valve and turning it to open. next, you may have a malfunction in the direction door the directs the air flow in the dash. a lever may have become lose or separated. may be a bad servo motor not directing the door to move to the heater position. i would start by checking that shut off valve first on the heater core.
SOURCE: when you turn on the heater makes a clicking noise
It's the "blend door actuator." Ford part # 19E616. It's a part that basically blends cool and hot air together to provide the desired climate. There's a cheapo little part of it with plastic gears that strip-out and then you get this clicking sound as though the heat is trying to work.
The part costs ~$70...install might run you around 2 hours...so I'd have to guess it's about a $200 or so fix.
I had this part repaired just over a year ago, and now it's failed again. Nothing but endless problems with the Explorer I bought brand new...actually wouldn't start a few days after I bought it and dealer couldn't figure out what was wrong...neither could 4 other dealers. No more Ford for me...ever!

if you have the automatic temperature control or electronic air temperature control your problem is probably the air temperature blend control motor. you'll have to replace it. checked the linkage from the blend door lever to the control motor first. make sure it is connected properly. if it is, play sure finger on the lever and feel for the vibration associated with the clicking. if you can feel it, replace the control motor.
