Most motorcycles fuel is "gravity" fed but the filter is usually found in or on the fuel petcock (fuel on-off valve). in some cases it has to be removed completely from tank and to do that, the fuel needs to be drained in either case. You'll be happy to know there is no fuel pump needed for this type setup. I hope this helps you in getting your bike running again. I know how frustrating it is because mine has been down for close to two months but mine is battery. Jesus loves you, John 3:16-17 (KJV)
oem parts like the fuel pump come as a complete unit with filter and fuel sending unit, you can get after market parts that come separate, and a lot of those require a competent mechanic to install as a lot of them are snap together units not meant to be dissassembled
The fuel filter on a 2002 Camry is an "In-Tank Filter". This means the filter is in the gas tank and is integrated with the fuel pump. In order to replace the filter, you must remove the tank and disassemble the fuel pump. Toyota's service schedule, which can be found at ToyotaOwnersOnline.com, does not list the fuel filter replacement through 120K miles (as high a the schedule goes). Thank you for using Fixya and hope this helps.
the fuel pump in the tank are well known for breaking up, if the filter keeps the fine metal filings out of the HP pump all you need is a new tank pump (they are available after market from motor factors) dont drive it until you have changed pump, fuel filter and really cleaned the casing.
did you check the fuel pressure? there is a sharder valve on the fuel rail to do this. i know you have to have a certain amount of pressure in order for it to run.i think on fuel injection its around 60 to 70 psi.and on throtle body is around 30 to50.psi. i also know if you run your truck low on fuel alot it will burn up the pump gas is what keeps pump cool. also you said you found a pluged filter witch over time will burn up the pump. hope this helps.
Try checking the black box located just above the spare tire on the chasis side alot of the fuel lines go to that box, in my case i just forgot to connect one ground wire that comes from the black box. let me know if this helps you.
